“Sunni Arab delegates have met with IS leaders to discuss the situation. They asked IS to leave the city so that Mosul won’t suffer the same fate as other towns where a large number of insurgents have been killed during operations to free the towns by Kurdish Peshmerga forces,” said the source. The source said that IS agreed to negotiate with the Sunni tribes, but with conditions. According to BasNews information, IS gave two conditions, “First, IS have asked for a huge sum of money from the Iraqi federal government and coalition countries,” said the source. The source continued, “Secondly they are demanding the opening of a safe corridor for them to safely retreat to Syria without incurring any losses.” Furthermore, the BasNews said that IS want to withdraw from Mosul due to their continued defeats in Nineveh province. Peshmerga are advancing in IS captured areas, inflicting big defeats on the insurgents. Hence, they are thinking about leaving the city and moving to Syria. “IS is afraid of losing all its territory in Nineveh,” added the source.
