COMPLETE & DETAILES REPORT :  01-02 August 2016 Daily Human Rights Report – (08/001) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

On 1 August 2016, Governorate of Hakkari imposed curfew for 3 days in Şapatan village and its hamlets Serero (İncesu) and Bêtyo (Dereboyu) in Şemdinli district on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region.

2 soldiers were reportedly wounded when an armed attack was organised on the night of 1 August 2016 by Peoples’ United Revolution Movement (HBDH) composed of 8 Marxist-Leninist organisations against Dalören Gendarmerie Station in Hozat district in Tunceli.

7 police officers were killed and 3 police officers were wounded when a bomb vehicle exploded during the passage of an armoured vehicle on 1 August 2016 in Bingöl.

2 militants were killed, 2 police officers and 1 militant were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 1 August 2016 nearby Çatbaşı village of Muş.

1 soldier who was heavily wounded when Hisar Tank Battalion was attacked on 29 July 2016 on foothill of Cudi Mountain in Cizre district of Şırnak died on 2 August 2016 in Gülhane Military Medical Academy hospital in Ankara.

1 temporary village guard was wounded during an armed clash on 2 August 2016 nearby Kozdere village of İslahiye in Gaziantep.

(08/002) Extra-judicial Killing Allegation in Tunceli…

Mesut İlkbahar who was going on 1 August 2016 to Dalören Gendarmerie Station from Pakîre village of Hozat district in Tunceli was shot to death when gendarmerie soldiers opened fire against his vehicle nearby the station. The officials announced that there was an armed clash and Mesut İlkbahar was caught between two fires.

His father Alişan İlkbahar who was also in the vehicle during incident was kept in the station for a while and released. He said: “My son was bringing me to the station to sign documents in connection with a court case launched against me. While approaching the station 3-4 bullets hit our vehicle. My son got off the vehicle. The he raised his hands and said that he was shot.” The villagers also declared that the clash was in the evening.

(08/003) Extra-judicial Killing Attempt in Mardin…

According to the news appeared in the press on 1 August 2016, Nurullah Ekici (20) and another person with the first name Uğur were wounded when Turkish troops opened fire for attempting to pass the border from Qamişlo province of Rojova to Nusaybin district of Mardin in Turkey.

(08/004) Extra-judicial Killing in Şanlıurfa…

Xelîl Dawûd Mihemed (25) was shot to death by Rojavan soldiers when he wanted to pass the border from Serêkaniye province of Rojova to Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa in Turkey on 1 August 2016.

(08/005) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 1 August 2016, 10 prisoners incarcerated in Şakran (İzmir) Women’s Prison who staged a sit-in action to protest in the practices of the administration during visits were beaten by the guards. The prisoners reportedly protested restriction on communication and criminal record check of the visitors.

On 1 August 2016, Telecommunication Communication Directorate (TİB) banned access to the new domain of Jin News Agency (JİNHA). The number of the banned domains of JİNHA reached 6.

(08/007) Investigations, Detentions and Arrests on the Allegations of Insulting State President…

O.F. (36) who was detained in Seferihisar district of İzmir on the allegations of “insulting the State President” through comments on social media was arrested on 1 August 2016.

(08/008) Detentions and Arrests…

The police and gendarmerie conducted house raids against members and executives of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP) on 1 August 2016 in Karayazı district of Erzurum. 59 persons were detained during the operations.

 

 

  • 03-04 August 2016 Daily Human Rights Report

(08/009) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

Governorate of Diyarbakır imposed curfew on 2 August 2016 in 14 villages of Lice and Hazro districts on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region. The curfew was lifted on 3 August 2016.

The Governorate imposed on the same day in 8 villages of the abovementioned districts.

2 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash on 1 August 2016 in the rural area of Hakkari.

The body of YPS- JIN member Pervin Taşçı (Berjîn Amargî) who was killed during the curfew in Cizre district of Şırnak was identified and taken by her family. Pervin Taşçı was buried on 2 August 2016 in Mardin.

The body of YPS member Mehmet Demir (Harın Bakgok) who was also killed in Cizre was identified following DNA tests and taken his family on 2 August 2016.

The body of YPS-JIN member Meryem Bozkurt who was killed in Cizre and buried in Silopi was identified and taken by her family on 3 August 2016.

The body YPS member Şükrü Can (Serxwebun Zagros) who was killed during the clashes in Su district of Diyarbakır was identified following the DNA tetsts and taken by his family on 3 August 2016. His body was found in the ruins of buildings on 21 March 2016 and buried in Malatya.

(08/010) Hate Crime in İstanbul…

Syrian homosexual refugee Muhammed Wisam Sankari was reportedly kidnapped after leaving his house in Aksaray quarter of Fatih district in İstanbul. His body was found beheaded on 3 August 2016 in Yenikapı quarter.

(08/011) Hrant Dink Investigation…

Specialist Sergeant Abdullah Dinç was arrested on 2 August 2016 and former Specialist Sergeant Yusuf Bozca, municipality police director for Esenyurt district of İstanbul, was arrested on August 2016 on the allegations of “attempting to overthrow constitutional order”, “being member of Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” and “intentional killing”.

They were detained in connection with the investigation concerning the killing of Hrant Dink, editor-in-chief of the daily Agos.

(08/012) Prisoner Beaten…

Former Commander of the Turkish Air Forces Akın Öztürk who allegedly one of the leaders of 15 July Coup d’État Attempt was reportedly beaten by the lawyer Mehmet Sincan İnce on 3 August 2016. Mehmet Sincan İnce reportedly wanted to see Akın Öztürk in prison.

Mehmet Sincan İnce shared his comments on the incident on social media and added that other prisoners, prison guards, and prison administration witnessed the incident.

(08/013) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press, 38 prisoners incarcerated in Van F-type Prison were transferred to Erzurum H-type Prison on 1 August 2016 without their demand.

(08/014) Detentions and Arrests in connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

İbrahim Balta who was among 2 journalists detained in İstanbul was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

(08/016) Detentions and Arrests…

Associate Professor Candan Badem who suspended from duty by the Tunceli University Rector in connection with proceedings against him was detained on 3 August 2016 on the grounds that a book of Fettullah Gülen was found in his office at the faculty. Candan Badem is known to be Marxist and atheist.

İbrahim Halil Yeşilyurt who was detained in Batman was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 2 August 2016 in Dicle district of Diyarbakır. Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executive for the district Mustafa Alınteri and municipality worker Azmi Akdağ were detained during the raids.

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) executive for Mardin province Tarık Kaya was detained on 2 August 2016 in Kızıltepe district.

Tarık Kaya was arrested on 3 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Mehmet Arslan who was detained during the house raids conducted in Karayazı district of Erzurum was arrested on 2 August 2016 relying on the incident he was following and the photos he took.

Hülya Karakaya, editor-in-chief of the journal Özgür Halk, who was detained in Diyarbakır Airport was arrested on 2 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

(08/017) Worker Deaths…

Worker’s Health and Job Safety Assembly announced on 3 August 2016 that at least 133 workers died in July 2016 during work accidents due to untaken security measures. At least 1049 workers died in first 7 months of 2016.

V.D. (20) who was serving for compulsory military service in Garrison Command in Didim district of Aydın allegedly shot the private M.B. (20) to death during night watch.

(08/019) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

The bodies of YPS and YPS-JIN members Cihat Dursun (Nûrhak Amed) and Eda Kutay’ın (Axîn Şîlan) who were killed during the curfew in Cizre district of Şırnak and buried in Şırnak were identified following the DNA tests. The bodies were taken by their families on 4 August 2016.

20 prisoners incarcerated in Siirt E-type Prison were reportedly transferred on 3 August 2016 to Bandırma (Balıkesir) T-type Prison without their demand.

According to the news appeared in the press on 4 August 2016, Erciş Co-Mayor Abdurrahman Çağan was transferred from Sincan (Ankara) F-type Prison to Bursa F-type Prison. He was arrested on 29 April 2016 on the allegations of “disrupting the unity and territorial integrity of the state” for taking part in the self-governance declaration on 12 October 2015 in Erciş district of Van.

(08/021) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 4 August 2016, the administration of Silivri (İstanbul) Penal Institutions Campus listed the dailies Özgür Gündem, Evrensel, Cumhuriyet, and Birgün as banned publications. The TV station Halk TV was also banned in the campus.

(08/022) Journalists Detained and Arrested in connection with the Coup d’État Attempt…

Mümtazer Türköne, Hüseyin Turan ve Murat Avcıoğlu “yasadışı örgüte bilerek ve isteyerek yardım etmek” suçundan, Alaattin Güner, Şeref Yılmaz, Ahmet Metin Sekizkardeş, Faruk Akkan, Mehmet Özdemir, Fevzi Yazıcı, Zafer Özsoy, Cuma Kaya, Hakan Taşdelen who were among 14 journalists detained in several provinces in connection with “Gülenist Movement terror organisation FETÖ/PDY” and brought to İstanbul were arrested on 5 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

(08/023) Detentions and Arrests…

The police conducted house raids on 4 August 2016 against the houses of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) members in Antalya. 7 persons were detained during the operations.

Selman Karaaslan, worker with the journal Özgür Halk, was detained on 4 August 2016 in Gürpınar district of Van.

According to the news appeared in the press, Mehmet Adanmış and his uncle Ezgin Adar who went to Yeni Police Station on 1 August 2016 in Siirt to testify in connection with an investigation are in custody for the last 4 days.

Mehmet Ali Genç and Metin Kösemen who were detained 12 days ago in Şanlıurfa and subjected to torture in custody were arrested on 4 August 2016 on the allegations of being member of Marxist Leninist Communist Party (MLKP)”.

(08/024) Death in Custody in İstanbul…

History teacher Gökhan Açıkkolu who was detained on 23 July 2016 during the operations conducted following coup d’état attempt on 15 July 2016 in Turkey by the junta called “Yurtta Sulh Konseyi / Peace at Hoe Council” in the military allegedly had heart attack on 5 August 2016 in custody. He was hospitalised, but died in the hospital. He was in custody for 14 days.

(08/025) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

HPG announced on 5 August 2016 that 5 militants were killed during an armed clash that broke out after an attack against a military convoy on 28 July 2016 in Şemdinli district of Hakkari.

According to the news appeared in the press on 5 August 2016, 2 militants were killed during an armed clash that broke out after an attack against a military convoy on 29 July 2016 nearby Dawoşê village of Çukurca district in Hakkari.

1 temporary village guard was wounded during an armed clash on 6 August 2016 nearby Narlıca village of Kulp district in Diyarbakır.

1 soldier was killed and 4 soldiers were wounded during an armed clash on 7 August 2016 nearby Akmeşe village of Eruh district in Siirt.

2 temporary village guards were killed and 1 temporary village guard was wounded when a bomb attack was organised on 6 August 2016 against a control point nearby Sinekli Meydan village of Beytüşşebap district in Şırnak.

2 soldiers were killed and 6 soldiers were wounded when Tekeli Battalion Command was attacked on 5 August 2016 in Şemdinli district of Şırnak.

1 soldier was killed and 1 temporary village guard was wounded during an armed clash on 5 August 2016 in Hizan district of Bitlis.

13 militants were allegedly killed during air operations conducted on 8 August 2016 in the rural area of Siirt.

(08/026) Persons Killed and Buried during Curfews…

According to the news appeared in the press on 5 August 2016, the bodies of 20 alleged members of YPS who were killed during the curfew in Nusaybin district of Mardin were left in the neighbourhoods where the blockade was continuing.

MEYA-DER (solidarity association for people who lost their relatives in Mesopotamia) Mardin branch executive Şerif Çelik announced that bodies of 56 persons were found in the district.

According to the news appeared in the press, Security Forces found bodies of 2 persons on 7 August 2016 in the side streets and the bodies were taken to State Hospital.

(08/027) Ultra-nationalist Attack in Bayburt…

On 7 August2016, utra-nationalists in Bayburt province surrounded the dormitories of Bayburt University where Kurdish students were residing for the practice exams of School for Physical Education and Sports. The group attempted to lynch the Kurdish students on the allegations that PKK flag was displayed on the dormitory building.

The crowd set a vehicle to fire in Gençosman quarter of Bayburt.

(08/028) Disappearance in Custody in Diyarbakır…

According to the news appeared in the press on 5 August 2016, Emrah Önkol who was disappeared after being detained by the police on 2 August 2016 during curfew in Çemê Elika village of Lice district in Diyarbakır was announced to be in custody in Security Directorate in Lice. After his detention, the officials denied he was in custody.

(08/029) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 5 August 2016, 15 prisoners incarcerated in Erzurum H-type Prison were transferred to other prisons on the grounds of “unavailable space”.

93 prisoners including patients incarcerated in Diyarbakır E-type Prison were also transferred to Gaziantep H-type Prison on 5 August 2016 for the same reason.

(08/030) Pressures in Prisons…

20 prisoners incarcerated in Antalya L-type Prison were reportedly beaten on 5 August 2016 in their cells for hours and kept handcuffed from back. The prisoners reportedly staged a protest for not being allowed to speak in Kurdish with each other and the guards attacked them in the cells. The Public Prosecutor in the prison replied “this like this happens in the prison” when the relatives of the prisoners appealed the Public Prosecutor in connection with the incident.

On 7 August 2016, Telecommunication Communication Directorate (TİB) banned access to the new domain of Jin News Agency (JİNHA). The number of the banned domains of JİNHA reached 8.

TİB also banned on 4 August 2016 access to web site of Özgür Gün TV station “ozgurguntv.com.tr”.

On 5 August 2016, TİB banned access to the new domain of Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat. The number of the banned domains of the paper reached 6.

(08/032) Persons on Trial in Adana…

According to the news appeared in the press on 7 August 2016, a court case was alunched against 12 persons on the allegations of “being member of the illegal Turkey Northern Kurdistan Liberation Organisation (Türkiye Kuzey Kürdistan Kurtuluş Örgütü – TKKKÖ)” which dissolved 40 year ago. The defendants were arrested on 25 May 2016 following the operations against United Revolutionary Party (Birleşik Devrimci Parti) in Adana.

The indictment also wants the defendants to be sentenced for “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” and “violating the Law on Meetings and Demonstrations”. Adana Heavy Penal Court No 2 will start to hear the case on 7 October 2016.

(08/033) Detentions and Arrests…

Democratic Regions Party (DBP) co-chairs for Suruç district of Şanlıurfa province Mehmet Kaplan and Rojda Binici were detained on 4 august 2016 in Suruç for opening a banner saying “isolation is a crime against humanity, your health is our health” during an activity in Suruç.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) executive for central district in Siirt province Ali Demir was detained when his house was raided on 5 August 2016 in Bahçelievler quarter of Siirt.

Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondents in Hakkari province Selman Keleş and İdris Yılmaz were detained on 5 August 2016 in Orman quarter of Yüksekova district when they were following developments in the quarter.

 

 

  • 09-11 August 2016 Daily Human Rights Report

(08/034) Detentions and Arrests…

The police conducted operations on 10 August 2016 against Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and Democratic Regions Party (DBP). 40 persons including Hakan Ergün, worker with the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat, were detained during the operations.

The police conducted operations on 9 August 2016 in Van and its districts. 13 persons including Vice-Mayor of Çatak district Turgut Babur and MEYA-DER (solidarity association for people who lost their relatives in Mesopotamia) Chair for Çatak brach Neriman Urar were detained.

DBP party assembly member Senar Abi was detained during road control on 8 August 2016 in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

Senar Abi was arrested on 10 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted operations on 8 August 2016 in Ardahan and detained 12 persons including HDP and DBP Co-Chair for the province on the grounds of supporting the campaigns of Rojava Association. 5 detainees were arrested on 10 August 2015.

14 persons including 2 children were detained under beating on August 2016 on the allegations of singing Kurdish songs in a public park in Esenyurt district of İstanbul.

11 persons who were detained during house raids conducted on 2 August 2016 in Muş were arrested on 9 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 9 August 2016 in Diyarbakır and detaned 11 persons including editor of the Democratic Modernity (Demokratik Modernite) jurnal Haydar Ergül, DBP party assembly members Salih Keleş and Ebubekir Budak

U.K. who was detained during the operations in Bursa was arrested on 9 August 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation” through social media.

The journalist Hasan Akbaş, Fırat Topal, Serpil Berk and Sertaç Kayar who were following the bomb attack on 10 August 2016 in Sur district of Diyarbakır were detained.

The police conducted raids on 11 August 2016 against the HDP premises in İstanbul and houses. At least 17 persons were reportedly detained during the operations.

DBP party assembly member Mahir Doğu Tekin was detained on 10 August 2016 in Mardin.

(08/035) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

2 soldiers were killed and 2 soldiers were wounded when a military troop was attacked on 10 August 2016 nearby Demirli village of Kulp district in Diyarbakır.

7 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 10 August 2016 during the passage of a military vehicle on the road between Şemdinli and Yüksekova districts of Hakkari.

Governorate of Diyarbakır imposed curfew on 8 August 2016 in 13 villages of Kulp, Silvan and Hazro districts on the grounds of military operations to be conducted in the region.

The curfew was lifted after one day. But the Governorate imposed curfew on 9 August 2016 in other 13 villages of Kulp, Silvan and Hazro districts for the same region.

The driver of a tractor carrying materials to a military station nearby Andıç village of Uludere district in Şırnak was killed on 8 August when a bomb exploded on the road.

1 police officer was wounded during an armed attack on 9 August 2016 in Gürpınar district of Van. The police officer died in the hospital.

At least 4 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 7 August 2016 nearby Akmeşe village of Eruh district in Siirt.

4 soldiers were killed and 9 soldiers were wounded when a bomb exploded on 10 August 2016 during the passage of a military vehicle in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak.

1 police officer and 2 civilians were killed, 5 police officers and 15 civilians were wounded when a bomb exploded on 10 August 2016 during the passage of a police bus in Kızıltepe district of Mardin.

5 civilians were killed, 5 police officers and 7 civilians were wounded when a bomb exploded on 10 August 2016 during the passage of a police bus in Sur district of Dİyarbakır.

(08/036) Extra-judicial Killing in Adıyaman…

Temporary village guard Yusuf Sönmez (46) was shot to death by unidentified persons on 8 August 2016 in Kömür town of Adıyaman. Yusuf Sönmez (46) was reportedly forced to leave his house and killed in front of his house.

(08/037) Child on Trial on the allegations of Insulting the State President…

According to the news appeared in the press on 9 August 2016, a court case was launched against A.Ş. (14) on charges of “insulting the State President” with the comments on social media.

The indictment wants A.Ş. (14) to be sentenced according to the Article 299 TPC. İstanbul Juvenile Court No 2 will start to hear the case.

According to the news appeared in the press on 8 August 2016, 29 more prisoners incarcerated in Erzurum H-type Prison were transferred to other prisons on the grounds of “unavailable space”.

(08/039) Suspicious Private Death in Tokat…

Mevlam Öztekin who was serving for the compulsory military service in Tokat allegedly committed suicide during night watch on 7 August 2016. He was registered to Derik district of Mardin.

(08/040) Hrant Dink Investgation…

Former non-commissioned offier Emre Cingöz, gendarmerie intelligence officers Volkan Şahin, Şeref Ateş, Okan Şimşek, Hüseyin Yılmaz and Gazi Günay who were among 9 persons detained in connection with investigation concerning the killing of Hrant Dink were arrested on 9 August 2016.

(08/041) Pressures in Prisons…

According to the news appeared in the press on 9 August 2016, 35 prisoners incarcerated in Bakırköy (İstanbul) Women Prison who set the cells to fire to protest in the restrictions in visits following the State of Emergency were transferred to Silivri L-type Prison No 9. The prisoners were reportedly subjected to torture during the transfer.

(08/042) Person Convicted in Aydın…

Didim (Aydın) Penal Court of First Instance No 3 concluded on 9 August 2016 to hear the case against Pınar Aydınlar launched in connection with a speech she gave in 2015 in Didim district of Aydın.

The court sentenced Pınar Aydınlar to 1 year and 2 months’ imprisonment under Article 215 TPC for “insulting a public officer”.

(08/043) Extra-judicial Killing in Erzurum…

Serkan K. who was on the run for raiding a shop was shot to death by the police on 10 August 2016 in Erzurum when he did not obey the stop warning and opened fire against police officers following him. 5 police officers were reportedly wounded when Serkan K. opened fire.

(08/044) Correspondent on Trial in Hakkari…

Hakkari Heavy Penal Court No 2 started on 10 August 2016 to hear the case against DİHA correspondent Şermin Soydan, Red Crescent Hakkâri Branch Chair Fadıl Alçiçek and Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair for Hakkari province Metin Besi. Şermin Soydan and Fadıl Alçiçek were arrested in connection with the news “Proof of Covert Operation in Gever (İşte Gever’e ‘gizli’ operasyon belgesi)” on the allegations of “acquiring and disclosing confidential information for political or military espionage”.

After the identification and first testimonies at the hearing, the court decided to release Fadıl Alçiçek to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 30 September 2016.

(08/045) Torture and Ill-treatment in Custody…

Peace Mothers Nezahat Teke and Havva Kıran who went from Diyarbakır to Siirt on 8 August 2016 to visit the Peace Mothers in Siirt were reportedly subjected to sexual assault by police officers on their way back to Diyarbakır.

Nezahat Teke and Havva Kıran organised a press conference and announced that their vehicle was stopped nearby Eruh district of Siirt. They were forcibly taken into an prefabricated building and forced to strip naked. The mothers were kept naked for 10 minutes in front of all police officers and forced for military warm up exercises.

(08/046) Extra-judicial Killing in Tunceli…

Şükrü Abay (46) was killed when a vehicle of communication company Türk Telekom was organised an armed attack on 10 August 2016 on Tunceli-Ovacık road. The attackers were unidentified.

(08/047) Extra-judicial Killing in Şırnak…

Mehmet Zeki Macartay, former headman of Kale quarter of Cizre district in Şırnak, was attacked by unidentified persons on 10 August 2016. Mehmet Zeki Macartay was shot and heavily wounded during the attack.

(08/048) Pressures in Prison…

40 prisoners incarcerated in Kırıklar (İzmir) F-type Prison No 2 were transferred on 2 August 2016 to Ödemiş T-type Prison without their demands. The prisoners were reportedly beaten on the way to Ödemiş T-type Prison.

(08/049) Association Co-Chair Detained…

(08/050) Massacre in Gaziantep…

A suicide bomb attack was organised against a wedding on 20 August 2016 in Gaziantep. The attack was allegedly organised by IS/ISIS and the unidentified attacker was announced to be a child. 54 persons including 29 children were killed and 67 persons were wounded during the attack.

The names of 44 persons who were killed were announced as follows:

The crime scene investigation revealed that the bomb used during suicidal bomb attack was similar to the ones used during Ankara Massacre attack and Suruç Massacre attack by IS/ISIS.

(08/051) Operations and Attacks in the Southeast…

Regional bureau of traffic registration and supervision was attacked on 15 August 2016 with a bomb vehicle nearby Çınar district of Diyarbakır. 5 police officers and 3 civilians including a child were killed, 7 police officers and 37 civilians were wounded during the explosion.

9 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 1 August 2016 in Serero hamlet of Şemdinli district in Hakkari.

4 militants were reportedly killed during the operations conducted on 9 August 2016 in Munzur Valley in Ovacık district of Tunceli.

7 alleged HPG militants and 4 police officers were killed during the armed clashes on 12 August 2016 in Selahaddin Eyyubi quarter of Nusaybin district in Mardin. Despite the military operations were concluded in Nusaybin, curfew was still imposed in 6 quarters of the district. According to the news appeared in the press, a woman who was detained following the clash was allegedly disappeared.

HPG militants closed a road on 12 August 2016 in Beytüşşebap district of Şırnak and abducted Justice and Development Party (AKP) youth branch Chair for Beytüşşebap district Naci Adıyaman and his brother Fikret Adıyaman. The body of Naci Adıyaman was found in the region.

Fikret Adıyaman was released on 14 August 2016 and HPG announced that Naci Adıyaman was caught between two fires during an armed clash and killed.

3 soldiers were wounded when Tepeşin Military Base was attacked on 14 August 2016 in Çukurca district of Hakkari.

3 police officers were wounded when an armoured police vehicle was opened fire on 14 August 2016 in Hizan district of Bitlis.

3 soldiers were wounded when a land mine exploded during the passage of a military vehicle on 15 August 2016 in Silopi district of Şırnak.

5 police officers were killed, 85 police officers and 132 civilians were wounded when Security Directorate in Elazığ was attacked on 18 August 2016 with a bomb vehicle.

2 police officers and the children Faruk Tam (13) and Dilek İdrak (17) were killed, 19 police officers and 52 civilians were wounded when 2 Nisan police station and police houses were attacked with a bomb vehicle on 17 August 2016 in İpekyolu district of Van.

1 solider and 2 militants were killed, 3 police officers were wounded when Security Directorate, Gendarmerie Command and Sub-Governor’s Office were attacked simultaneously on 22 August 2016 in Nazımiye district of Tunceli. Sub-Governorate imposed curfew in the district following the attacks.

Governorate of Hakkari imposed curfew between 18 August and 21 August 2016 in Altınsu village of Şemdinli district on the grounds of “military operations to be conducted in the region”.

According to the news appeared in the press on 19 August 2016, 2 militants were killed during an armed clash that broke out on 19 August 2016 in the rural area of Çukurca district in Hakkari.

The woman with the first name Reyhan was killed, İrfan Karaman and Hacı İrfan were heavily wounded when soldiers opened fire against a vehicle on 21 August 2016 in front of Yolalan Gendarmerie Station in Tatik district of Bitlis on the grounds that the driver did not obey the stop warning.

The body of YPS member Davut Yardımcı who was killed during the operations and curfew in Yüksekova district of Hakkari and buried in Erzurum was identified after DNA tests. His body was taken by his family on 16 August 2016.

4 military personal including former Gendarmerie Commander for Trabzon province Colonel Ali Öz who were detained in connection with investigation concerning the killing of Hrant Dink were arrested on 15 August 2016.

Colonel Ali Barış Sevindik was also arrested on 12 August 2016 in connection with the investigation.

(08/057) Nihat Kazanhan Case…

Cizre (Şırnak) Heavy Penal Court No 1 continued on 12 August 2016 to hear the case launched in connection with the killing of Nihat Kazanhan (12) by the police on 14 January 2014 in Cizre district of Şırnak.

The remanded defendant police officer Mehmet Emin Arslan and eyewitnesses testified at the hearing. The court rejected the demand for the arrest of the defendant police officers U.İ., H.V., O.Ç. and G.T. and adjourned the hearing to 23 September 2016.

The indictment wants the defendants U.İ., H.V., and Mehmet Emin Arslan to be sentenced for “intentional killing”, the defendants O.Ç. and G.T for “not reporting a crime”.

(08/058) Hrant Dink Case…

Çağlayan (İstanbul) Heavy Penal Court No 14 continued on 12 August 2016 to hear the case against 37 persons including 5 remanded defendants in connection with the killing of Hrant Dink. The hearing continued for 5 days.

After the testimonies of the present defendants, the court rejected demand of the remanded defendants to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 26 September 2016.

(08/059) Disappearance in Custody Allegations in İstanbul…

The family of the teacher Recep Demirtaş announced with a press conference on 17 August 2016 that Recep Demirtaş was detained during a house raid on 9 August 2016 in Esenyurt district of İstanbul and he disappeared since then.

His brother Fatih Demirtaş stressed during the press conference in the premises of İstanbul branch of Human Rights Association (HRA) that the detention of Recep Demirtaş was not registered in any prison or police station in İstanbul. The family was replied by the authorities that “they did not have any information”. The family will also make an official complaint with the Public Prosecutor in İstanbul for a possible abduction. Fatih Demirtaş also stressed that a police officer from Esenyurt Police Station said: “Your brother was detained by the police officers from our station. He is being interrogated by Anti-Terror branch.”

According to the news appeared in the press on 18 August 2016, Democratic Regions Party (DBP) Co-Chair for Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa province Fethullah Fidan disappeared after being detained during a house raid on 15 August 2016.

Although the blooded shirt of Fethullah Fidan was left in the garden of the house, his family announced that the officials denied the detention.

6 persons who were detained during a police intervention against a public stamen by Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) on 9 August 2016 in Ümraniye district of İstanbul were subjected to torture in custody according to the forensic reports.

The medical report certified “ecchymosed eyes, bruises and traces on the body and aching testicles”.

According to the news appeared in the press on 18 August 2016, 15 prisoners incarcerated in Siirt E-type Prison were transferred to other prisons on the grounds of “unavailable space”.

(08/063) Daily Özgür Gündem Closed…

Penal Court of Peace Judge No 8 on duty ordered on 16 August 2016 closure of daily Özgür Gündem for one month upon demand of İstanbul Chief Public Prosecutor’s Press Office. The decision was taken under the Article 28 of the Constitution and on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Following the closure decision, the offices of the paper in İstanbul and the houses of the writers and editors of the paper were raided by the police.

During the raid of the Özgür Gündem office in İstanbul, 23 journalists were detained under beatings.

Novelist Aslı Erdoğan, columnist with the Özgür Gündem, who was detained on 17 August 2016 was arrested on 21 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and making propaganda of an illegal organisation”. Executive editor of the paper Zana Kaya and editor-in-chief İnan Kızılkaya were also arrested on 22 August 2016 for the same reasons.

Mardin Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 18 August 2016 to hear the case against Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Meltem Oktay who was arrested on 14 April 2016 in Nusaybin district of Mardin and another DİHA correspondent Uğur Akgül who was released after being detained along with Meltem Oktay.

The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “being member of an illegal organisation”. After the defence as to the accusations, the court decided to release Meltem Oktay to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to a later date.

The police intervened the members of Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) who wanted to stage a demonstration on 18 August 2016 in Eskşehir to protest in the closure of the daily Özgür Gündem. 11 persons including HDP Co-Chair for Eskişehir province Ahmet Uluçelebi were detained during the intervention.

All demonstrations and meetings were banned in several provinces on the anniversary of PKK’s first armed action on 15 August 1984.

Governorate of Batman announced that all demonstrations and meetings were banned from 15 August 2016 to 18 August 2016. Sub-Governorate of Silvan district of Diyarbakır also made a similar announcement on 14 August.

Governorate of Van banned the activities between 13 and 16 August 2016 and Governorate of Siirt between 14 and 16 August 2016.

Governorate of Diyarbakır announced that all demonstrations and meetings were banned starting from 15 August 2016.

Ağrı Heavy Penal Court continued on 15 August 2016 to hear the case against 29 executives and members of Democratic Regions Party (DBP) who were arrested after the raid of DBP premises in March 2016 in Ağrı.

The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “being member of an illegal organisation”. The defendants testified at the hearing through SEGBİS teleconference system. The court decided to release the defendant Fecri Yakut on TL 10,000 bail and adjourned the hearing to 29 August 2016.

(08/070) Persons on Trial in Malatya…

Malatya Heavy Penal Court No 2 continued on 16 August 2016 to hear the case against 15 students including 6 remanded defendants launched on charges of “being member of an illegal organisation”. The case was launched after the house raids conducted on 2 February in Malatya.

Following the testimonies of the defendants, the court decided to release 4 students to be tried without remand and adjourned the hearing to 4 October 2016.

(08/071) Political Party Premises Attacked…

A group of ultra-nationalists attacked the premises of Peoples’ Democratic Party in Elazığ following the attack of PKK against Security Directorate on 18 August 2016. The attackers forcibly entered the premises and damaged the properties in the premises. The attackers left after putting up a Turkish flag in the premises.

(08/072) Detentions and Arrests…

Security Forces conducted operations against the mayors from Democratic Regions Party (DBP) in several provinces. Co-Mayor of dil district in Şırnak province Nevin Oyman Girasun and Co-Mayor of Kulp district in Diyarbakır province were detained during house raids on 16 August 2016.

DBP Co-Chair for Kulp district Fatih Taş and Tamer Eren were also detained during the raids in Kulp.

13 persons including Co-Mayor of Ergani district in Diyarbakır province Gülistan Polat were detained during the operations on 13 August 2016.

The police conducted operations on 15 August 2016 against the United Revolutionary Party (Birleşik Devrimci Parti) in Mersin. 18 mebers and/or supporters of United Revolutionary Party were detained during the house raids.

14 detainees were arrested on 20 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of the illegal Turkey Northern Kurdistan Liberation Organisation (Türkiye Kuzey Kürdistan Kurtuluş Örgütü – TKKKÖ)” which dissolved 40 year ago.

The police conducted house raids on 14 August 2016 in Tuzluçayır quarter of Mamak district in Ankara and detained 11 persons including Etkin News Agency (ETHA) correspondent Fatma Edemen.

Former DBP Co-Chair for Tunceli province Ergin Doğru and Former Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) Co-Chair for Ovacık district Haşim Özdemir who were detained during house raids conducted in Tunceli were arrested on 15 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 15 August 2016 against the houses of HDP members in Aydın and detained 31 persons.

Former HDP Co-Chair for Söke district Hamit Ergül and Former Co-Mayor of Savuca town Ahmet Ölçer who were among detainees were arrested on 17 August 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

4 activists of HDP were also detained on 17 August 2016 in İzmir.

The soldiers conducted house raids on 15 August 2016 in Keklikpınar village of Ağrı. Azer Demir (18) and Orhan Özden (19) were detained on the allegations of “aiding an illegal organisation”.

11 persons were detained during house raids on 12 August 2016 in Bismil district of Diyarbakır. 4 persons in Çermik district, 1 person in Bağlar district, 17 persons in Silvan district and 7 persons in Lice district were also detained during the operations.

Mehmet Albay who was detained in Bismil and 5 persons who were detained in Silvan were detained on 18 August 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation.”

The police conducted house raids on 14 August 2016 in Gazi quarter of Sultangazi district in İstanbul and detained 9 persons.

Security Forces detained Erdal Canan on 14 August 2016 on Özgürlük Square in Yüksekova district of Hakkari. Municipality Assembly member Samet Teker was also detained on the same day in bus terminal.

24 persons were detained in Bitlis and its districts during the road controls and house raids on 13 and 14 August 2016.

The police conducted house raids on 13 August 2016 in Dörtyol and Erzin districts of Hatay and detained at least 15 persons including HDP co-chairs for the districts.

10 persons in Adana and 1 person in Xaçort quarter of İpekyolu district in Van were also detained on 13 Augsut 2016.

MEYA-DER (solidarity association for people who lost their relatives in Mesopotamia) Co-Chair for Van brach Neriman Urar and DBP executive for Özalp district in Van province Özlem Özbey who were detained during the operations were arrested on 13 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Security Forces conducted operations on 13 August 2016 in İzmir, Erzurum, İstanbul, Şırnak, Mersin, Diyarbakır, Hakkari, Gaziantep, Siirt, Mardin provinces and detained 108 persons. .

Kurdish Language Research and Development Association (Amed Kürt Dili Araştırma ve Geliştirme Derneği – KURDÎ-DER) Co-Chair for İzmir branch Ali Yalçınkaya, Prisoners’ Families Solidarity Association TAYDER Co-Chir for İzmir branch Musa Karbadağ, Sait Bahadır, Mehmet Özan, Ümit Fatma Fırat, İzzetin Akın, Hakan Arslan, Hatip Bilen, Semih Ersönmez, Sedat Mihayaz, Rizgar Gaçkçen, Özgür Dilek and Abdulbarin Baran who were detained in İzmir were arrested on 20 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 15 August 2016 in Ceylanpınar district of Şanlıurfa and detained 8 persons.

Peace Group (Barış Grubu) member Mehmet Adanmış and handicapped Mehmet Sıdık Timurtaş who were detained 30 July 2016 in Siirt were arrested on 12 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Diyarbakır Peace Mothers Assembly (Barış Anneleri Meclisi) member Dılşah Özgen (83) was detained on 12 August 2016 when she went to Diyarbakır Court House to testify in connection with an investigation. Dılşah Özgen was reportedly taken to Kocaköy Gendarmerie Command.

Municipality Assembly member Müjde Bozan who was detained on 1 August 2016 in Siirt was arrested on 11 August 2016 on the allegations of “adding an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 16 August 2016 in Muş and detained 3 persons.

Former HDP Co-Cahir for Siirt province Ebedin Yiğit and Solidarity with Rojava Association (Rojava Yardımlaşma ve Dayanışma Derneği) former Chairperson Mehmetşah Uçar who were among detainees were arrested on 21 August 2016.

The police conducted operations on 16 August 2016 in Bitlis and detained 6 persons. 2 children who were among 20 children detained in Adana were arrested on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

6 persons were detained on 16 August 2016 in Cizre and İdil districts of Şırnak.

The police conducted house raids on 15 August against the houses of HDP members in Aydın and detained 31 persons. 7 detainees were arrested.

Deputy Mayor of Lice district of Diyarbakır province Kadir Bayram was detained during a road control on 17 August 2016.

Peace Mothers Assembly (Barış Anneleri Meclisi) members Asuman Külter, Mehmet Bağru, İbrahim Özmen, Cemal Ediz and Agit Başaran who were detained during house raids in Silopi district of Şırnak were arrested on 17 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

During operations and house raids conducted on 18 August 2016, 5 persons in Avgamasya village of Şırnak, 4 persons in Cizre district of Şırnak, HDP Co-Chair for Hatay Şükran Dağ Cabir in İskenderun district of Hatay, HDP executive for central district in Osmaniye province Celal Eker were detained.

5 persons who were among 6 persons detained in Siirt 15 days ago were arrested on the allegations of “aiding an illegal organisation”.3 persons were also detained in Solhan district of Bingöl.

DBP Co-Chair for Malazgirt district of Muş province Murat Kızıltaş who was among 7 persons detained during house raids was arrested on 23 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

6 persons who were detained while coming back from highlands to Doğubayazıt district of Ağrı were arrested on 18 August 2016 on the allegations of “aiding an illegal organisation”.

6 persons who were detained in Karayazı district of Erzurum were arrested on 21 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

2 militants were killed during an armed clash that broke out on 21 August 2016 nearby Xendekan hamlet of Tekman district in Erzurum.

12 persons who were among 14 persons detained for singing Kurdish songs in a public park in Esenyurt district of İstanbul were arrested on 21 August 2016 on the allegations of “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Necat Yüzkan, Mehmet Kızmaz and Recep Gündüz who were among 7 persons detained on 13 August 2016 in Silvan district of Diyarbakır were arrested on 20 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted operations on 20 August 2016 against the houses of DBP and HDP members in Şanlıurfa province and detained 49 persons.

Security Dirctorate in Cizre district of Şırnak was attacked on 26 August 2016 with a bomb vehicle. 11 police officers were killed, 75 police officers and 3 civilians were wounded during the attack.

1 soldier who was wounded during an armed clash on 27 August 2016 in the rural area of Derecik town in Şemdinli district of Hakkari died in the hospital.

2 police officers and 2 civilians were wounded when Security Directorate in İpekyolu district of Van was attacked on 25 August 2016 with a rocket launcher.

2 militants were reportedly killed during an armed clash that broke out on 22 August 2016 in the rural area of Ovacık district in Tunceli.

According to the news appeared in the press on 24 August 2016, 2 militants were killed and 2 militant was wounded during the operations conducted on 24 August 2016 in the rural area of Sason district in Batman.

1 police officer and 1 civilian were wounded when militants opened fire against vehicle on 30 August 2016 in Buzlupınar region of Bitlis. The militants reportedly cut a road in the region and opened fire against the vehicles which tried to return and escape.

2 soldiers and 9 militants were killed, 5 soldiers and 2 militants were wounded during the operations conducted on 28 August 2016 in the rural area of Şemdinli district in Hakkari. 1 soldier was also wounded during the operations on 30August 2016.

1 militant was allegedly killed during an armed clash on 30 August 2016 in the rural area of Uludere district in Şırnak.

2 YPG militants were wounded during an armed clash that broke out on 30 August 2016 in İpekyolu district of Van.

B.S. (13-male) was wounded when a bomb exploded during the passage of an armoured police vehicle during patrol on 30 August 2016 in Keklikpınar quarter of Hakkari on Van-Hakkari road.

5 temporary village guards were wounded when a bomb exploded on 28 August 2016 in the rural area of Eruh district in Siirt.

1 soldier was killed and 1 soldier was wounded when a bomb exploded on 28 August 2016 on Van-Hakkari road.

The bodies of YPS member Nedim Karcik (Çeko Agir) and Abuzer Sevik (Tofan Tolhıldan) who were killed during the operations conducted under curfew in İdil district of Şırnak were identified on 25 August 2016.

M.Ö. (48) was wounded when a truck carrying construction material to the Ilısu Dam in Dargeçit district of Mardin was opened fire on 25 August 2016.

The convoy of Republican People’s Party (CHP) President Kemal Kılıçdaroğlu who was visiting Artvin province on 25 August 2015 was attacked nearby Yanıklı village in Ardanuç district. 1 soldier was killed and 2 soldiers were wounded when Peoples’ United Revolution Movement (HBDH) composed of 8 Marxist-Leninist organisations opened fire against the convoy.

4 soldiers and 1 militant were wounded during an armed clash on 27 August 2016 in the rural area of Derecik town in Şemdinli district of Hakkari.

3 YPS members who were killed during the operations in Nusaybin district of Mardin were buried on 27 August 2016 in a common grave in Artuklu district for not being identified.

According to the news appeared in the press on 27 August 2016, 2 militants were killed and 1 militant was wounded during the operations conducted in the rural area of Sason district in Batman.

8 children were wounded allegedly because of an explosive thrown from an armoured vehicle on 27 August 2016 in Cudi quarter of Silopi district in Şırnak.

5 temporary village guards were wounded when a bomb exploded on 28 August 2016 during the passage of a minibus in Eruh district of Siirt.

2 workers were killed and 2 workers were wounded when a construction area was attacked on 26 August 2016 in Yüksekova district of Hakkari.

Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP)Co-Chair for Kahramanmaraş province Metin Gönülşen who was detained during the house raids conducted in Kahramanmaraş was arrested on 29 August 2016 on the allegations of “Making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

Barış Şahin and Ramazan Bülbül were detained on 24 August 2016 in Tunceli. The reason of detetions was not disclosed.

İhsan Turgut, worker with the Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat, and Adnan Kümek, worker with the magazine Özgür Halk, were detained on 25 August 2016 during the operations conducted in Erciş district of Van and Hakkari.

The police conducted operations on 27 August 2016 in İzmir and detained 8 members of “Socialist Youth Associations Federation (Sosyalist Gençlik Dernekleri Federasyonu – SGDF)”

8 persons including Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Erdem Mühirci and Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat worker Ali Aşikar who were detained during the operations conducted n Başkale district of Van were arrested on 26 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police conducted house raids on 26 August 2016 in Tekman district of Erzurum and detained 16 persons.

The children A.A. ve A.B. who were among 19 persons detained in Silopi district of Şırnak were arrested on 29 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

The police detained 5 persons from magazine Kaldıraç circle when they wanted draw a portrait of Che Guevara on 29 August 2016 on a wall in Kuğulu Park in Ankara to protest in the expressions of the President of the Parliament referring Che Guevara as a bandit.

HDP Co-Chair for Tunceli province Ali Akbayır who was detained during a house raid in Tunceli was arrested on 29 August 2016 on the allegations of “being member of an illegal organisation”.

Fox TV news editor Ercan Gün and former Trabzon Gendarmerie Intelligence Commander Metin Yıldız who were detained in connection with investigation concerning the killing of Hrant Dink were arrested on 25 August 2016.

(08/086) Persons on Trial in Antalya…

Antalya Heavy Penal Court No 2 started on 25 August 2016 to hear the case against 14 persons including Dicle News Agency (DİHA) correspondent Feyyaz İmrak launched on charges of “being member of an illegal organisation” and “making propaganda of an illegal organisation”.

After the identification and testimonies of the defendants, the court adjourned the hearing to 20 September 2016 for the completion of the testimonies.

(08/087) Ümit Kurt Case…

According to the news appeared in the press on 25 August 2016, Cizre (Şırnak) Heavy Penal Court No 1 concluded to hear the case against police officer M.Ş. launched on charges of killing Ümit Kurt’un (14). The curt reportedly acquitted the police officer on the grounds that the court was satisfied that the police officer acted within limits of the Law on Duties and Powers of Police.

On 6 January 2015, the police opened fire against the group gathered to protest the operations in the region and shot Ümit Kurt (14) to death with a single bullet at his heart. Ümit Kurt was working for the restoration of a house in the neighbourhood. 4 persons were also wounded during the police attack.

2 police officers who were suspects in the killing of the killing of Ümit Kurt were released on 25 February 2015 after testifying to the Public Prosecutor. Public Prosecutor prepared the indictment against the police officer M.Ş. and wanted in his opinion as to the accusations him not to be sentenced on the grounds that the police officer acted within limits of the Law on Duties and Powers of Police.

A group of Kurdish workers were attacked by another group on 26 August 2016 in Tuzla district of İstanbul on the grounds of speaking Kurdish with each other. Hüseyin Gümüş was wounded during the incident due to beatings at his head. The leg of Selman Gümüş was broken during the attack.

Governorate of İzmir reportedly took the ban decision on 28 August 2016 and Governorate of Batman on 29 August 2016.

On 27 August 2016, Governorate of Diyarbakır lifted the curfew in Sur district of Diyarbakır except for the quarters within the old city walls. Curfew was imposed in several quarters and streets of the district since 11 December 2015.

The police raided on 28 August 2016 the office of Kurdish daily Azadiya Welat in Diyarbakır. After 4 hours of search in the office, 25 workers of the paper were detained under beatings.

Mustafa Duman (18) was shot at head and heavily wounded in the garden of his house when the police opened fire during a house raid Xaçort quarter of İpekyolu district in Van.

Eyewitness Sarye Duman alleged that the police shot his nephew intentionally.

2 persons who were in the raided house were reportedly wounded during the raid.

(08/094) Persons on Trial in Ağrı…

Ağrı Heavy Penal Court continued on 29 August 2016 to hear the case against 28 executives and members of Democratic Regions Party (DBP). The case was launched after the raid of DBP premises on 14 March 2016 in Ağrı. 28 DBP executives and members were arrested after the raid.

The indictment wants the defendants to be sentenced for “being member of an illegal organisation”. The defendants continued to testify at the hearing through SEGBİS tele-conference system. The ruled continuation of the arrest of 28 remanded defendants and adjourned the hearing to 22 November 2016.

The police conducted a house raid on 29 August 2016 in Süphan quarter of Edremit district in Van. 1 male and 1 female were reportedly killed when an armed clash broke out following the raid.
