MESOP : PRO ASSAD FORCES FIRE ON KURDS IN HASAKAH

June 19, 2014 – ARA News – Qamishli, Syria – A grenade exploded on Wednesday in the city of Hasakah, northeast of Syria, as aerial bombing renewed by the pro-regime warplanes on the strongholds of al-Qaeda splinter group of the Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) in the province.

Mohamed Osman, a university student based in the city of Hasakah, stated to ARA News that a grenade exploded near the traffic roundabout in Guerran district in Hasakah where a regime-held barrier is located. “Pro-Assad soldiers at the regime-held checkpoint opened fire randomly in the air, and some of those stray shots landed on the Square of Technical Observers Institute and the Faculty of Engineering (150 meters south of the roundabout), causing a state of panic among the students,” Osman said.

Talking to ARA News, Mohammad al-Ahmad, civil rights activist in Hasakah, said: “The pro-Assad warplanes bombarded al-Hinna village yesterday (3 km west of the city of Shaddadi in Hasakah countryside), led to the killing of three civilians from one family, in addition to the destruction of two residential buildings.” “A state of fear and anxiety spread among the residents of Shaddadi, as a result of repeat bombardment during the past two days,” al-Ahmad reported. “Meanwhile, a similar strike hit the towns of Tel Hamis and al-Hol, without recording casualties.”
