PJAK faces internal division due to new ruling system

12.05.2014 – Shaho Karim – BasNews, Iran – Division among Party of Free Life of Kurdistan (PJAK) leaders has increased following the announcement of a new party system, called the Organization of Free and Democratic Society for East Kurdistan (KODAR).

Sources have informed BasNews that the implementation of KODAR has put a strain on senior party leaders, particularly former leader Haji Ahmadi who was recently stripped of leadership following a secret vote. A number of them are wary of the system and claim it has been created on the basis of the Iranian constitution. PJAK leaders who are in favor of the new system are known as the “Imrali wing” and are believed to be close to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and in favor of negotiations with the Iranian Government. – However, a few days ago Tehran officials rejected PJAK’s proposition for talks.
