MESOP PAY BACK ? : Iraqi MP: Kurds should return Iraqi money and then declare independence

10.04.2014 – Kurdo Shaban – BasNews, Baghdad – Allia Nassif, a Shiite Arab and Member of the Iraqi Parliament, has called on Iraqi authorities to force the Kurds to return all the funds allocated to the Region in the Iraqi budget over the last ten years, and then to declare an independent state of Kurdistan.

In a written statement, Nassif, a member of White Iraqiya Bloc, has challenged Iraqi Kurds that if they want to separate from the rest of Iraq, they have to hand back the money they have received in the last 10 years. “Every now and then Kurdish officials threaten us with declaring an independent state. If there is any foundation in such talk, then we ask them to return all the money they have received since 2003 from the Iraqi budget share of 17%,” she said. “The Kurds want to establish a state by our money,” Nassif added. She warned Kurds that if they want an independent Kurdish state, then they should bear the consequences of that decision.
