MESOP NOTEBOOK: FROM THE FETULLAH GUELEN EMPIRE
Gulen was against Badie’a al-Zaman for being a Kurd: Erdogan
10-3-2014 – Kurdpress – Turkey’s Prime Minister, Recep Tayyip Erdogan has accused U.S.-based preacher, Fethullah Gulen of attempting to derail the peace process between Ankara and the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) and said the Turkish cleric does against his master Saeed Nawrasi, known as Badie’a al-Zaman for being an ethnic Kurdish.
“This person in Pennsylvania (Gulen) is waging assaults to prevent a solution to terrorism and stamp out brotherhood, peace and unity,” Erdogan told a rally in Sanliurfa in Turkey’s southeast.
“ the Pennsylvanian has stated he did not recognize Badeia al-Zaman for being a Kurd. They began a large assault against us after the witnessed the peace talks are ending a good result after my visit to Diyarbakir with Mr. Barzani (Kurdistan Region President Massoud Barzani), Sivan Perwer and Ibrahim Tatlises. And then they began 17 September operation against us,” he further said, asking people in the Kurdish province to elect ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) candidates in the upcoming municipality elections in the country at the end of this month.
Erdogan said Gulen was using opposition parties to target the government’s efforts “to fight terrorism.” Earlier in the week, Erdogan suggested he might seek Gulen’s extradition, calling him “the source of unrest in my country.” He said he had talked to U.S. President Barack Obama about Gulen, noting that Obama said he understood the ‘message’ on Gulen’s activities. The White House later denied Erdogan’s account of the U.S. president’s remarks. Turkey’s ‘solution process’ began early last year with a ceasefire between the Turkish government and outlawed PKK terrorist organization. The government pledged democratic reforms to empower minorities, particularly the Kurdish minority, which is by far the largest forming some 25 percent of the population.
