KNC to join Kobane fight
November 12, 2014 – ARA News – Kobane, Syria ــ Subsequent to the Free Syrian Army (FSA) and the Peshmerga forces joining the conflict in Kobane, the Kurdish National Council in Syria (KNC) is preparing to send military forces to support defenders of Kobane city against militants of the Islamic State (IS/ISIS).
Sources from the KNC, who preferred anonymity, told ARA News that a number of leading members in the Council entered the embattled city of Kobane on Tuesday to coordinate with leaders of the People’s Protection Units (YPG) and send fighters to contribute to the defense of the city. The sources confirmed that three members of the KNC entered the city on Tuesday to prepare for the entry of hundreds of young Kurdish men with military experience who have been trained by the council to fight the IS radical group. The KNC showed its intention to form such a military force in an official statement on Sep. 30. Speaking to ARA News, Kurdish activist Mamo Najib emphasized the importance of coordination between the different forces in Kobane.
“We all know the good intention of those forces and their determination to defend Kobane against the terrorists; however, the lack of coordination might cause chaos even after the defeat of the IS group,” Najib said.
