Basnews – 07.09.2015 – PRAGUE – Nisreen Abdullah, the commander of the Women’s Protection Units (YPJ) was invited to a security conference in Prague.
Abdullah on September 3 was invited to the 7th Conference on Security in Central Europe, reports the Kurdish Hawar News Agency.She was invited by Jaromir Stetina, the vice-chair of the Subcommittee on Security and Defence. Several officials from Poland, Austria, Czech Republic, and Slovakia participated in the event, including generals and officers in Western armies. Stetina, a former journalist, visited both Kurdistan region of Iraq, and the Kurdish Southeast of Turkey. The YPJ is the female branch of the well-known People’s Protection Units (YPG), which is the military branch of the Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) in Syria. Nisreen Abdullah started to play a bigger public role after meeting the French president François Hollande in February in Paris. On 22 June, Nisreen visited the Italian capital of Rome, calling on the West to arm the YPG and provide medical aid.
