ENKS Leader Suffering Serious Health Condition in PKK’s Prison in Rojava

Basnews English –  23/06/2017 – 11:34 -ERBIL — A Syrian Kurdish leader from Kurdish National Council (ENKS) is suffering from a critical health condition in a prison belonging to Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in Qamishlo, Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan).

Sleman Oso, a member of ENKS politburo and a member of the party’s foreign committee, suffered a serious health condition last night and was taken to Rahma hospital in Qamishlo, Najmadin Kiyaz, a member of the Kurdistan Democratic Party of Syria (KDP-S) political committee, told BasNews on Friday. Oso had heart condition before he was arrested by the Democratic Union Party (PYD), a PKK-affiliated party in Rojava, according to his family, said Kiyaz, adding that his health has worsened in PKK’s prison.

The jailed ENKS leader needed to stay under intensive care at the hospital but the PKK security forces, irrespective of human rights, did not allow him to stay in the hospital, thus he was taken back to prison, he said.

Sleman Oslo, is a well-known Syrian Kurdish figure who had a significant role in the struggles against the dictatorship of the Syrian regime and has been one of the Kurds’ rights advocates in Syria.

PKK-affiliated forces abducted him on May 23, 2017 in his house as part of the PKK’s crackdown on Rojava parties whose political views are different from those of PKK. PKK has closed down all the headquarters and offices of its political rivals in addition to detaining a large number of their members. www.mesop.de
