Basnews English – 16/03/2017 – ERBIL — The Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) which is considered an offshoot of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) has threatened to expel the families of the Rojava Peshmerga troops.

BasNews has learned that PYD Asayish (Security Forces) have begun warning the families of Roj Peshmerga and threatened them with expulsion from Rojava (Syrian Kurdistan) if their relatives do not abandon the Peshmerga force. Rojava Peshmerga, known as Roj Peshmerga, is composed of Syrian Kurds and trained by US under Kurdistan Region Peshmerga Ministry’s auspiecies to take part in anti-Islamic State (IS) efforts in Syria. The Roj Peshmerga forces are currently operating in the Kurdistan Region and engaged in the fight against IS in different locations in the northern Iraq. However, PYD has so far precluded the troops from returning to Rojava, their homeland.

Emad Birho, a member of the Syrian Kurdish National Council (ENKS), confirmed the news to BasNews and revealed that PYD has dismissed all the employees at the oil fields of Rmelan who have relatives among Roj Peshmerga.”PYD has pressured Rojava people to withdraw their family members from Roj Peshmerga or leave the region,” he said. According to the information obtained by BasNews, PYD Asayish has arrested a number of civilians named Ahmed Talho and his son Ibrahim, Ayub Faris and Nuraddin Izzadin Qasim in Derik town of Rojava because they have relatives serving in the ranks of Roj Peshmerga. www.mesop.de
