ERBIL — German parliament decided on Tuesday to extend the country’s military mission against the Islamic State (IS), as part of which it continues to train Kurdistan Region’s Peshmerga forces.As of October this year, a total of 150 German military advisors were deployed in Erbil, providing the Peshmerga forces with military training and advice to help them with the anti-IS battle.Germany is an active member of the US-led Global Coalition to defeat IS.
It had briefly suspended its Peshmerga military trainings earlier in October after the escalation of military tensions between the Kurdish forces and Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shaabi in Kirkuk and other Kurdish territories.
