MESOP NEWS : Sulaimaniya an inseparable part of Kurdistan Region: Safin Dizayee

15 July 2015 – The Spokesman of the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), Safin Dizayee, denied claims that the government discriminates between the cities in the region and stressed that Sulaimaniya, second biggest city in the region, is an undividable part of the Kurdish enclave. He said the claims that Erbil government discriminates between cities in Kurdistan Region are accusations to create rift between Erbil and Sulaimaniya and the region on the whole. Dizayee’s remarks came a day after Sulaimaniya Provincial Council Chief Hawal Abubakir told a Rudaw program that the KRG follows a discriminative policy with Sulaimaniya, warning that the province would announce an independent region if the policies are continued. Dizayee told the KRG official website that “these accusations are to fan rows and divide Sulaimaniya from the Kurdish region, warning that the city is Kurdistan Region’s culture capital and is an indivisible part of the region.” He finally reiterated that the budget of the provinces in the region is distributed according to the number of their inhabitants.
