MESOP NEWS : PUK = THE IRANIAN BRANCH IN KURDISTAN ! – Some PUK Elements Assist Hashd al-Shaabi in Makhmour – Report by Yassin Hassan (BasNews)

SOUTH KURDISTN (IRAQ) – 30 Jan 2018 – A number of cadres within the Patriotic Union of Kurdistan (PUK) led the Iranian-backed militias of Hashd al-Shabbi in federal security uniforms to arrest citizens including Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) officials in Makhmour.

“A group of militias of Hashd al-Shabbi on Tuesday, January 30th started checking people’s houses and arresting individuals if they find any types of guns in their homes,” revealed Abdulla Tahir, a Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) representative to Makhmour. “There were a few masked men who seemed to be very familiar with the home addresses in the area,” Tahir additionally stated.BasNews had already revealed on January 28th that Hashd al-Shaabi had launched an operation of checking people’s houses in the federal security uniforms and arrested a number of residents in the district.

Tahir further revealed that the KDP officials were remanded in custody for 24 hours and then were freed.  On October 16th last year the Iranian-backed Hashd al-Shaabi in collaboration with some other militia groups were allied by some “traitors” in the Kurdish military forces to invade Kirkuk, Tuz Khurmatu and Khanaqin which resulted in the killing of hundreds of civilians and fleeing of thousands of families from the area. www.mesop.de
