Fearing Turkish shelling, PKK has resorted to the Yezidi IDP camp, posing a new threat to Yezidis

Leyla Hemid – 25/12/2016 – 15:16   |  Kurdistan – BasNews  – ERBIL — The Kurdistan Workers Party (PKK) forces have relocated their bases in the IDP camps on Sinjar Mount and thus endanger the Yezidi IDPs there, an official said on Sunday. Speaking to BasNews, head of Brotherhood and Coexistence Faction in Nineveh Provincial Council said that after the Turkish Army’s threats to shell the PKK bases near the town of Sinjar of Nineveh province on the Iraq-Syria border, the forces have moved their bases to the IDP camp on Sinjar Mount.

Saido Chato warned that this relocation may “endanger” the lives of the IDPs and called on the fighters to stay away from the camp. He also warned that the IDPs, fearing their lives, may turn to Duhok province, which is already overwhelmed by hosting the greatest number of IDPs and refugees.The US administration and Kurdish top officials have openly asked the PKK to leave Sinjar and withdraw to their zone. www.mesop.de
