PKK Delegation to Iran Does Not Represent Yezidis: MP /  Viyan Dakhil accuses PKK of creating social issues for Yezidi families

27 Jan 2017 – MESOP – The delegation from the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) which demanded military and financial support from the Iranian officials does not represent the Yezidi community in Sinjar, said a Yezidi MP from the town.

The PKK delegation visited Iran as part of the Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Forces (known as Hashd al-Sha’bi in Arabic), said Viyan Dakhil during a televised interview with Kurdistan24 news channel on Wednesday evening.

She thought the delegation did not need to visit Iran, rather, it had to seek support from Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG) or Baghdad authorities as Sinjar’s issues are internal. Dakhil accused the PKK of creating “social issues” for the Yezidi community in Sinjar by enrolling their women and children in their ranks, saying the practice is in violation with the Yezidi traditions. The Kurdish MP to the Iraqi House of Representatives also declared “the people of Sinjar reject the PKK and Hashd militias’ presence in their town.” www.mesop.de
