Iranian Kurdish HDK party commander Qadir Qadri assassinated in Iraqi Kurdistan

RANIYA, 8 March 2018 – A commander of the Kurdistan Democratic Party-Iran HDK was assassinated on Tuesday night (March 6) in Iraqi Kurdistan region, a member of the party said.HDK Politburo member Omer Balaki told NRT on Wednesday that the party’s commander, Qadir Qadri, was assassinated in an area between Shkarta and Balisan in northeast of Erbil.

The security forces have launched an investigation into the incident, he added.

The party will also release a statement regarding the assassination of its commander later, Balaki said.The Kurdistan Democratic Party-Iran or HDK is a Kurdish party of Iran, split from the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI or KDPI) in 2006 after a dispute between both to choose party’s next leader in 13th convention. The incident came after an explosion hit a car of a member of the Democratic Party of Iranian Kurdistan (PDKI) in the neighborhood of Bnaslawa in Erbil city on March 1, killing one person and wounded another.

Erbil Asayish (security forces), said, “The explosion was due to a sticky bomb attached to the car of an official from an Iranian opposition party, which killed one and wounded another.”
