PKK Refuses to Leave Sinjar Thanks to Baghdad Support: MP – The guerrillas’ stay will only deteriorate the situation, warns Sinjar lawmaker
Leyla Hemid – 02 February 2017 – ERBIL — As long as Baghdad provides the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) with arms and funds, the party won’t step out of Sinjar, said a Kurdish Yezidi lawmaker.
Speaking to BasNews on Thursday, Majid Sinjari said the Iraqi Prime Minister Haidar al-Abadi is aware that his administration is supporting the PKK as part of the newly legalized Shi’ite Popular Mobilization Forces or Hashd militias.He warned the PKK’s further stay in Sinjar will only deteriorate the situation. More than a year ago, the PKK forces came to the Yezidi town of Sinjar in Nineveh province, and now refuse to withdraw from the district. It has set up military units from locals, some of whom embedded within Hashd al-Shaabi. www.mesop.de
