The Kurdish inmate was tortured in the intelligence service’s prison before he was transferred to Sanandaj Prison.
Amjad Hussein Panahi, a human rights activist and brother of the inmate has told the campaign that his brother has been severely tortured while detained in the intelligence service’s prison. He revealed that his health condition is now unstable in Central Sanandaj Prison.Panahi has been sentenced to eight years and six months in prison.The reason behind torturing him was to force him to appear in a confession video speaking against his family, but he refused to submit to their wishes. The Kurdish inmate was imprisoned on charges of spreading propaganda against the government of Iran and holding Nawroz celebrations (Kurdish new year), according to the report.Moreover, Panahi’s youngest brother, Rameen Hussein Panahi, a political activist, has also been arrested by the Iranian Revolutionary Guard Corps (IRGC) and has been held by the intelligence service for 160 days without trial. www.mesop.de
