MESOP NEWS : ANOTHER BLOW AGAINST KURDISH UNITY BY PKK/PYD / PYD Prevents Mourners from Peshmerga’s Burial in Rojava – The Peshmerga member was killed in Nineveh

Leyla Hemid – 19/01/2017 – 16:03   |  Middle East BasNews –  ERBIL — Forces from the Democratic Union Party (PYD) did not allow the mourners in Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) to participate in the burial of a Peshmerga member from their area. Mohammed Amin Ahmed, 23, originally a Kurd from Chil Agha town of Hasaka province, Syria, died on Wednesday after getting seriously wounded in clashes with the Islamic State (IS) in Nineveh province of Iraq.

His family decided to bury him in his village Gre Pre, Hasaka, but as the convoy carrying him crossed the Semalka border point, the PYD security forces blocked all the ways leading to the border point, in order to prevent mourners participate in his burial.

Ahmed served in the Syrian Kurdish Peshmerga Forces known as Roj Peshmerga which the PYD regards as the armed force for its opposition coalition, Kurdish National Council of Syria (ENKS). The PYD, thus, has prevented this force from stepping into Rojava where reportedly it has established an autocratic system over the three cantons it has declared. Roj Peshmerga forces is made up of over 5,000 Kurdish men and women who received military drills from the Kurdistan Region’s Ministry of Peshmerga and have been participating in the battles against IS along with Kurdistan Region Peshmerga forces. www.mesop.de
