MESOP : MORE THAN 200 PEPOPLE KILLED – Kurdish Fighters Control Kobani Again

Basnews – 27 June 2015 – KOBANI – Kurdish fighters ousted the Islamic State group from the Syrian border town of Kobani on Saturday, two days after the jihadists had seized several neighborhoods, a monitoring group said.

“The Kurdish People’s Protection Units (YPG) took back control of IS positions in Kobani,” the Syrian Observatory for Human Rights said.Kurdish activist Rudi Mohammad Amin told AFP that “all of Kobani is again under the control of the YPG,” adding that “a number of IS fighters were killed and wounded.”IS militants has killed around 200 people in the Kobani area since launching a raid on the town early on Thursday, according to SOHR. On Friday night, the Kurdish forces and the Syrian army fought separate battles with IS militant around Hasakah, a Kurdish city in north-east Syria as the hardline group tried to capture more areas of the major urban center near the Iraqi border, a monitor said on Saturday.
