MESOP MIDEAST WATCH : THE ACTUAL SITUATION IN SYRIA & ERDOGAN

Seth Frantzman

Almost no one ever asks why Ankara is enabled to carry out an endless war of murderous bombing and attacks in Syria. It’s just taken for granted…oh another airstrike on some civilian area to terrorize people who were trying to recover from war and ISIS.

At least two Turkish airstrikes hit northeastern Syria in the last hour. Activists are claiming they were carried out by drones. However, fighter jets appear to be involved.

Don’t the people in Syria have a right to live without airstrikes, without this “NATO ally” always bombing people? Ankara claims it is confronting “threats” except the war only goes one way, it’s 100% Ankara bombing and no one does anything to Turkey.

Seth Frantzman

It’s just total impunity for endless war against innocent people. Ankara’s goal is just destabilization and it has gotten a green light from the West, Iran and Russia to carry out attacks in certain areas, the poor people there are sacrificed and have no rights.

Seth Frantzman

It’s like if one had the bad luck to live in a place like Qamishli…they first suffered discrimination under Assad rule and then after the US backed the SDF they became the endless target of Ankara’s bombing.

Seth Frantzman

It’s so strange that the area of Syria where people sought to work with the US and the West is the one area being always bombed by “NATO ally”…it would be peaceful if not for that bombing.

Seth Frantzman

You’d think that the areas of Syria where people sought to work with the US and defeat ISIS would be the areas that get support, but instead they get the “both sides should de-escalate” from Washington…when only one side is being bombed and that side does nothing else.

Seth Frantzman

Also for minorities in Syria, they are the main targets of Ankara in these areas. Yazidis and Kurds in Afrin were ethnically cleansed; Tel Tamr and Christian areas are always being bombed, just like Sinjar. The goal is obvious, it is to remove and bomb minorities.

Seth Frantzman

There is no threat to Turkey from Syria. The war is entirely in one direction. And there’s no blueprint for ever allowing Syrians to live in peace without the “right” of various countries to bomb. It’s particularly grievous in areas where people want peace after ISIS.
