MESOP : NEW STATEMENTS EVERY DAY – Turkey and U.S. Joint Plan for Syria Confirmed by Pentagon
After the White House denied earlier this week that the United States and Turkey had agreed on a plan for joint Turkish and U.S. strikes on Syria, the Pentagon confirmed that an arrangement has been reached. “It could take a few days to put these technical arrangements into place at the operational level,” Pentagon press secretary Peter Cook told reporters. The plan will integrate Turkish airstrikes into the U.S.-led air campaign but it is unclear how it addresses Turkey’s proposal for a safe zone in Syrian territory. August 25, 2015, Tuesday – Todays Zaman Commentay – In the last two weeks, several Kurdish majority regions, cities and city districts in the Southeast have declared autonomy.It started on Aug. 10 in Silopi and Cizre in Şırnak province, later followed by similar declarations in the Silvan district of Diyarbakır, in Tunceli (Dersim in Kurdish) and in Batman province. It is not always clear who is responsible for these announcements. In Şırnak, it was the local People’s Assembly, linked to the Democratic Regions Party (DBP), a Kurdish organization close to the main pro-Kurdish party the Peoples’ Democratic Party (HDP) and sympathetic to the outlawed Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK). Verschwindenlassen war und ist bis heute eine besonders beliebte Form des Terrors in nahöstlichen Diktaturen. Manchmal wissen Angehörige über Jahre nicht, ob die Verschwundenen noch leben oder längst in irgend einem Foltergefängnis exekutiert wurden. Bis heute werden im Irak noch regelmäßig Massengräber aus der Zeit Saddam Husseins entdeckt, das irakische Ba’ath Regime ließ Hunderttausende verschwinden und keineswegs in Einzelfällen wussten Irakis über Jahrzehnte nicht, was mit ihren Familienmitgliedern oder Freunden geschehen war. Wer auch nur fragte, riskierte sein Leben.
Dass in Syrien die Namen vieler vom Regime zu Tode gefolteter inzwischen veröffentlich wurden, ist lediglich “Caesar” zu verdanken, der zehntausende Photos ins Ausland schmuggelte und veröffentlichte.
Der Islamische Staat, es müsste sich inzwischen herumgesprochen haben, ist ganz in die Fußstapfen dieser Regimes getreten, erfindet wenig neu, schließlich sind es auch Anhänger des 2003 gestürzten irakischen Diktators, die maßgeblich an seinem Aufbau beteiligt waren.
Wenig erstaunlich also, dass in Gebieten, aus denen der IS vertrieben wurden, neue Massengräber auftauchen:

In Mosul dagegen haben sie sich etwas Neues einfallen lassen. Sie veröffentlichenjetzt Namenslisten:
The IS group had published a list of over 2,000 names, all of whom had been executed by the group, which bases it’s ideology on arcane and brutal practices. Locals in Mosul are punished for everything from smoking to watching football games to adultery with lashings, stonings and death.
Hassan had heard conflicting reports about his father and he hoped that he might still be alive. But he also suspected he might have been murdered by the IS group. The list could be his family’s chance to find out for sure.
In Mosul there are literally thousands of missing persons, most of them thought to be arrested and in prisons run by the IS group. Nobody knows their fate, whether they are alive or dead – and this is the first time that the IS group have published such a list.
The “death list” as locals have called it, contained 2,070 names and copies of it were hung on the walls of what the IS group calls it’s Islamic Police Stations.
As word of the lists spread, local people rushed to the police stations to scan the names for information about their missing relatives and friends.

Zur Stadtrat-Sitzung am Mittwochabend forderte Jenas Jugendpfarrer und Mitglied des Stadtrates, Lothar König (Bürger für Jena), in seinem Redebeitrag die Jenaer Bürger auf, sich an der neuen Initiative „Zigaretten statt Spielzeug“ zu beteiligen.
“Viele Flüchtlinge würden Raucher sein und könnten sich die teuren Zigaretten nicht leisten”, so König. Er betonte, dass diese Initiative nicht kinderfeindlich sei, “aber was sollen die Erwachsenen mit Spielzeug. Denkt doch mal an diese armen Leute und kauft mal eine Packung Zigaretten!” Ein Nebeneffekt der Initiative sei auch, dass man bei dieser Form der Hilfe mit den Menschen besser ins Gespräch käme.

In Teheran, da weiß man noch, was Standfestigkeit ist. Und lässt einen Auftritt von Daniel Barenboim nicht zu, weil er Israeli ist.
Man stelle sich mal vor, wie von der New York Times bis zur SPD alle ins Jauchzen gekommen wären. Barenboim in Teheran. Bitteschön, die Iraner laden einen Israeli ein, der muss nur kritisch gegenüber der Okkupation sein. Da sehen wir es doch. Wandel durch Annäherung und das alles Dank des großartigen, friedensstiftenden Iran Deals, den nur die bösen, kriegslüsternen Republikaner und Netanjahu verhindern wollen. Die Artikel hätten sich von selbst geschrieben. Eine Steilvorlage wär’s gewesen.
Aber der Antisemit , und das wollen und können sie alle offenbar nicht verstehen, hat eben feste Prinzipien, zu denen er steht, koste es was es wolle, Kompromisse wären nur Verrat an seinem hehren Ziel, am Ende in der Welt für Frieden und Gerechtigkeit zu sorgen, und die sind nur zu erreichen, geduldig erklären sie es in Teheran wieder und wieder, indem man die Juden bzw. ihren Staat auslöscht.
Barenboim sollte offenbar das kulturelle Rahmenprogramm für einen Staatsbesuch von Angela Merkel liefern:
