MESOP LATEST : Mosul Governor Asks Arab Militants to Assist Peshmerga
18.08.2014 – Mewan Dolamari – BasNews, Mosul – Mosul Governor Atheel al-Nujaifi has called on Arab tribes in the Tel Kyef area to support Kurdish Peshmerga forces and stand against Islamic State (IS) insurgents. He also stated that “IS is a cancer”.
In a statement Nujaifi asks all Arab tribes in the Tel Kyef area to support Peshmerga forces and fight against IS militants and stated that: “IS is a weird thing for Iraq and its citizens – only traitors and bad people support them.” “You are all well-known, kind and strong tribes and you have a shared history and land with Kurds, Christians and Yazidis,” said Nujaifi. He mentioned that a Chechen or Afghan person (IS militant) is not better than Kurds they have known for a long time. They have asked Kurds for help which they have received, and as are the closest people to them, they can rely on Kurds at any time. “IS militants have been a stain on our history. They have destroyed mosques, robbed Muslims’ money, called for the looting of Christians’ property. They have committed crimes against Yazidi people,” added Nujaifi. He explained that: “Now is time to put our interior problems aside. IS is a cancer that has infected Arab countries.” “It is time to prevent your children from believing in IS speeches. Wise people have to be strong and take responsibility in protecting Mosul in particular and Iraq in general,” added Nujaifi.
