MESOP LATEST : Kurdistan Region to Lobby Neighbours On Independence / Kurdistan hopes to separate peacefully from Iraq
Basnews | Hemin Salih – 09.06.2015 – ERBIL – Iraqi Kurdish political parties are forming a coordination committee to promote the case of Kurdistan Region independence to Middle Eastern governments.
In their latest meeting with the Kurdistan Region President, the parties have agreed the committee will be led by President Barzani. It will be tasked with discussing the independence issue with Arab countries, Iran and Turkey. A source tells BasNews that the committee will highlight the Kurdistan Region’s wish to separate from Iraq through peaceful means. The head of Erbil Turkmens’ bloc in the Kurdistan Region parliament Ayeden Maruff told BasNews, “A delegation will visit neighbouring countries in order to gain support for the pending disputes between Erbil and Baghdad, exporting oil independently and Kurdistan independence. “Political parties in the region have all agreed to the formation of the committee and the deployment of the delegation,” Maruff said. Kurdistan Islamic Group politburo member Mohammed Hakim, who attended the meeting with President Barzani, told BasNews that every party will be represented on the committee.
