MESOP LATEST : Kurdish district in Aleppo attacked

June 8, 2014 –  ARA News – Aleppo, Syria – The pro-regime air forces bombed on Saturday evening the predominantly Kurdish district of Ashrafiyah in central Aleppo with explosive barrels. At least 7 civilians were reported dead and dozens were injured. The attack also caused large damage in the residential buildings in the district.

The aerial bombardment also included the Youth Housing area in Ashrafiyah. ARA News could not verify the exact number of casualties there.

Ismail Aziz, human rights activist from the city of Aleppo, stated to ARA News that several dead bodies were removed from under the ruins of the buildings, while dozens of wounded civilians were transferred to newly installed field hospital in the district.

Meanwhile, the pro-regime warplanes bombed with rockets the village of Bashkoy in the northern countryside of Aleppo, caused huge damage in private property of the villages. No casualties were reported.

Imad Hussein, civil rights activist from the city of Aleppo, told ARA News that a car bomb driven by a member of the al-Qaeda splinter group of Islamic State of Iraq and the Levant (ISIL) exploded on Saturday afternoon in the FSA-held village of Thaltha in the Akhtirin area in Aleppo province, killing a child and wounding two other civilians.  Repoting by: Haya Al Abdullah – Source: ARA News
