WEST KURDISTAN (SYRIA)

28.5.2014 – Kurdpress – The Kurdistan Democratic Party (KDP) is not enjoying a long history in Syria Kurdish regions but is seeking an equal power with the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK), the later party’s Spokesman told Kurdpress in an exclusive interview.

In the second part of the interview with Kurdpress, Damhat Agid said the PKK is ready to discuss disputes with the KDP but the question is; can KDP enjoy the same power the PKK has gained through years? They ask for equal power but we believe the power shares based on the voted each party or side will achieve through elections. He added the PKK jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan has worked in Syria Kurdish regions for more than two decades and that’s quite natural that the party enjoys more supporters and a greater power.

Agid blamed KDP for conducting bomb a recent bomb attack in Syria Kurdistan and the party’s belligerent policy towards the regions’ denying claims that the bombers’ confessions have been taken under torture. Answering the question if the PKK is seeking a democratic autonomy and a de-facto system in Turkey Kurdish regions, Agid told Kurdpress that Turkey government has not taken concrete steps in the peace talks with the PKK and we are seeking an alternative and establishing a democratic autonomy and a de-fact system is what we are considering right now.

“We accepted cease fire and withdraw from Turkey but the government is continuing to erect military bases, arming villagers and some alike behaviors and does not take concrete steps in solving Kurdish problem,” he went on to say.Agid also asked the northern region of Kurdistan to settle its differences with the Iraqi government through negotiation but slammed the region policy for allowing Turkey’s “occupation” of the region. Asking whether there is still hope to hold the long-delayed Kurds National Congress, Agid said the congress is not going to be held on the will of a person and a person’s opposition should not defer the “historically-needed” gathering, reiterating there are problems in Syria Kurdistan and there will be no congress until there will be solutions to the troubles there.
