KRG Orders Arrest of 360 Suspects on Charges of Oil Dealing With ISIS

06.11.2014 – Hoshmand Sadiq – BasNews, Erbil – Iraqi Kurdish officials has revealed that a high number of people have been arrested by Kurdistan Region authorities, suspected on charges of having bought oils from Islamic State militants in northern Iraq.

 

Sherko Jawdat, member of Iraqi Kurdistan Parliament and member of Natural resources committee in Parliament has told BasNews that the investigation in to the case of some Kurdish Peshmerga Ministry official were involved in oil dealing with IS militants in Kirkuk, still underway and scores of suspects has been arrested.

In addition, a source close to investigation who wished to remain anonymous told BasNews that Kurdish authorities has ordered arrest of 360 suspects, with links to those officials who allegedly bought oil from IS militants in Kirkuk Province and then smuggled it to Iran. “The KRG Interior Ministry has arrested warrant for 360 suspects on this case and some of them have already been arrested and the investigation in to the case still going on,’ added the sources. Jawdat also said that a high number of suspects have been arrested and they have urged the authorities to charge those people with article 4 of Kurdistan law, which is terror law, and it includes death penalty. Last week, Peshmerga Ministry spokesman, Halgord Hikmat told BasNews that they still investigating this case and if anyone from their ministry found guilty of any dealings with IS militant will face the toughest penalty.
