MESOP KOBANE RECONSTRUCTION KRG to Open School in Kobani – Kurdistan Region Parliament Speaker to visit Syrian Kurdish city
ERBIL – 4 May 2015 – BasNews – The Kurdistan Region Parliament Speaker Yousif Muhammad will visit Kobani in Syrian Kurdistan (Rojava) soon to fund a school project in the city.Evar Ibrahim, member of the Kurdistan Parliament, on Sunday told BasNews that Speaker Muhammad will visit Rojava shortly, without revealing a specific date. He said the Kurdistan Parliament is funding a project to open a school in the city, which was devastated in the recent fierce fighting between Kurdish forces and Islamic State (IS) militants.
“The Speaker will visit Kobani and participate in the opening of reconstruction of the city. Parliament will fund a project to open a school in the city,” said Ibrahim. Ibrahim is one of the two Kurdistan MPs on the reconstruction of Kobani committee. He said Parliament wishes to take a bigger role in the reconstruction of the city. In the past few months, Ibrahim revealed, the KRG Parliament has supported Kobani and Syrian Kurdistan by passing several laws; officially recognising the Rojava Cantons and approving plans to send Peshmerga forces to support the Kurdish fighters of People’s Protection Unit (YPG) in the fight against IS militants. He insisted that Kurdish areas of Syria will continue to receive support from the KRG.
