ISIS breaks Ceasefire with Peshmerga
22.06.2014 – Zanyar Daquqi – BasNews, Kirkuk – A source from the Peshmerga has told BasNews correspondent in Kirkuk that due to Sadr’s militant parade in Kirkuk, ISIS militants have been firing at Peshmerga forces camp because they afraid to be attacked by the Sadr Militants.
“Peshmerga forces don’t want Kirkuk to be a place of sectarian war between Shiite and Sunni. They can carry out this fight in their own areas because Kirkuk is neither Sunni’s nor Shiite’s but Kurdistani. Therefore, it mustn’t be the battlefield between Shiite and Sunni,” said the Peshmerga Commander. He also mentioned that Shiite militants attempted to attack ISIS from Kirkuk, but Peshmerga forces have stopped them. On 21st June, a ceasefire was officially held between Peshmerga forces and ISIS through tribal leaders in the area, but due to the Sadr’s militant pride in Kirkuk, the ceasefire was stopped. On Saturday, 450-500 Iranian soldiers arrived in Hurriya Airport in Kirkuk and on Friday, an Iraqi airplane landed in Kirkuk that brought four thousand weapon pieces for Ahl al-Haq militants
