MESOP INSIGHT : THE END OF THE TALE OF THE UNITED STATES
EAST KURDISTAN (IRAN)
A hard line Kayhan editorial entitled “America, almost at the end of its tale (in Iraq),” argues that the only reason the United States wants to cooperate militarily with Iran inside Iraq is to “get itself out of the current crisis,” and that “America’s inaction and passivity in Iraq has made Turkey, Saudi Arabia, and the Zionist regime extremely angry.”
The head of Iran’s Center for Strategic Research, and foreign policy advisor to the Supreme Leader Ali Akbar Velayati told Mehr News Agency, “Trilateral cooperation at the highest level between Iran, Russia and China is necessary in order to fight extremism and terrorism in the region.” According to IRNA, Iranian President Hassan Rouhani’s deputy chief of staff for political affairs Hamid Aboutalebi tweeted in Persian, “Day by day the inconsistent behavior of the United States destabilizes the region.” In regards to U.S. foreign policy in Syria Aboutalebi tweeted, “Did the United States not support one of these groups (ISIS and al-Qa’ida) in Syria?”
