US backs Kurdish autonomous region in Syria: Russian official
A member of foreign relation committee in Russia parliament stated that U.S. reiteration on the participation of Syrian Kurds in the operation to liberate the Syria northern city of Raqqa, the Daesh’s self-called capital in the country, indicates that Washington supports the creation of an autonomous Kurdish region in the north.
Alexsander Babakov told Eyzostia daily that it is naïve to accept that the U.S. reiteration on the participation of the operation to liberate Raqqa is to stabilize peace in Syria, adding that it is impossible to deny the hypothesis that the U.S. using Kurds to liberate Raqqa is an effort to establish a federal democratic system in Syria and finally create an autonomous Kurdish region in Syria.
Taleb Zifa, an analyst of Syrian affairs, told the daily that the U.S. following simultaneous goals in arming Kurds in Syria; first, it pressures Turkey to prevent the country from making close ties with Russia; second, Washington knows that Syrian army will soon take control of Aleppo, so the U.S. and its allies want to have control of different parts of Syria, adding that Washington will use the later attempt as a leverage against Damascus and Moscow over the creation of an autonomous Kurdish region which will include Raqqa too. www.mesop.de
