MESOP : Illegal fuel pipelines between Kurdish regions of Turkey and Syria

21.05.2014 – BasNews, Turkey – Turkish forces have destroyed 10 illegal pipelines that sent kerosene and other fuels into Syria from the Kurdish region of Turkey.

More than 10 illegal pipelines which supplied various fuels to Idlib, a city in northwestern Syria, from the Kurdish region in Turkey, have been discovered and destroyed by Turkish forces. Turkish forces recently started an operation to clean the border areas of fuel smugglers. After taking control of the pipelines, they destroyed them. The pipelines started from Reyhanlı, a town and district of Hatay Province, on the Mediterranean coast of Turkey, near the country’s border with Syria, and ran to Idlib in Syria. Turkish forces arrested 12 suspects. After interrogation, the suspects admitted to smuggling fuel from Reyhanlı into Syria
