KURDWATCH, August 31, 2015—In the future, the Democratic Union Party’s (PYD) People’s Defense Units (YPG) could become part of the Syrian army. This was the opinion expressed by the PYD‑co-chairman Salih Muslim in an interview with the Arab daily newspaper al‑Hayat in Brussels and published on 26. July 2015. According to Muslim, however, the army’s mindset would need to change before this could happen.
