Pro-Assad forces struggle to regain control over Idlib

June 3, 2014 – ARA News – Aleppo, Syria – Two pro-regime soldiers were reportedly killed while 4 others wounded on Monday, during clashes with fighters from the Free Syrian Army (FSA) in the town of Kafrouma in Idlib countryside, north Syria.

Mohammed Salloum, civil activist based in the city of Idlib, stated to ARA News that FSA fighters were able to kill two soldiers from the pro-Assad military forces and wound four others in an ambush near Kafrouma town. “This came after clashes between the regime forces and FSA fighters on the outskirts of the town,” Salloum reported. Meanwhile, Syrian air force loyal to President Bashar al-Assad carried out two air raids on the city of Maart al-Nu’man in the southern countryside of Idlib. No casualties reported.

t Local sources also reported that the pro-regime helicopters dropped explosive barrels on the village of Ein al-Souda near Idlib on Sunday evening, killing one civilian and wounding several others, who were transferred to a nearby field hospital. These developments coincided with an aerial bombardment launched on the town of al-Hubeit, without recording casualties.
