MESOP FLASH : WHO GIVES ORDERS IN PKK ? THE SO CALLED ‘SOLUTION PROCESS’

PKK will not lay down arms at Ocalan’s order: Karayilan / “No one follows his order if it comes from prison,” he continued.

18-3-2014 – Kurdpress – The Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) militants will not lay down their arms on the order of the party’s jailed leader Abdullah Ocalan, if the leader gives the order from prison, a member of the party’s leading council Murat Karayilan said on Monday.

According to the media affiliated to the PKK, Karayilan said the party considers Ocalan as the leader of all Kurds and since he is in prison the party’s members will not lay down their arms and will not leave war against Turkey.

“Apo (the way the PKK members call Ocalan) should be freed, come to the mountains (Qandil in Kurdistan Region of Iraq) and decide on laying down arms in a congress attended by guerillas,” he said, calling the move as the only way to convince the PKK to quit arms. “But no one follows his order if it comes from prison,” he continued. Karayilan further hailed Ocalan’s last Newruz message of peace and said the decision proved the PKK is seeking peace and political solutions, reiterating the peace process with Turkey has benefited the PKK, Turkey Kurds as well as Kurds in Syria. Karayilan however lashed out at Ankara government for not taking promised steps in the talks and warned the talks will destroy if Ankara fails to take needed steps.

Upcoming election will decide peace or war

The PKK official further pointed to the importance of the upcoming municipality election at the end of March and said the election is decision making and if ruling Justice and Development Party (AKP) can win the votes of Kurds then “there will be war again.” Karayilan further claimed the AKP has no plan to solve Kurdish issue in Turkey and would not take any steps even if it wins the election in the Kurdish regions, continuing the “Erdogan  (Turkey PM) is telling lies to Kurds.”
