MESOP FLASH : Protesters cut Sulaymaniyah – Kirkuk road

27-3-2014 – Shafaq News / Dozens of residents of Bazian sub-district organized a protest on Thursday on the spread of harmful factories to the environment which led them cut the strategic road between Sulaimaniyah and Kirkuk provinces.

“The people of the area are suffering from severe lack of services and the large number of industrial factories which does not respect the terms of the environment protection measures, explaining that these factories can cause the spread of many diseases among the people of the sub-district and led to the infringement a lot of farmland ,” The official of Environmental Protection Organization , Melco Baziyani told “Shafaq News”. The protesters are demanding , according to Baziyani , the competent authorities in Kurdistan Regional Government to cancel its decision to open a number of industrial factories in the region and that are harmful to the environment , stressing that protest will continue until their demands are accepted
