PKK Presence in Sinjar May Attract Turkish Intervention: Yezidi Commander /  Yezidi underaged are being recruited by PKK guerrillas

Basnews English – 3 – /10/2016  – SINJAR — The presence of Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) in the Yezidi town of Sinjar will attract Turkish military interventions in the area, says a Peshmerga commander. PKK guerrillas are playing a negative role on the mount Sinjar which is likely to be turned to a battlefield due to their presence, Qasim Shasho, a Yezidi Peshmerga commender, told al-Sumaria.

He stated that the majority of Yezidis are demanding the withdrawal of the PKK forces from the area as they are violating the international laws by recruiting underage Yezidis.  Shasho called on the Kurdistan Regional Government (KRG), the federal government of Iraq and the US-led coalition to secure the Yezidi area and pressure PKK to leave the region:  After the liberation of Sinjar and its surrounding areas by the Peshmerga forces, the PKK guerrillas also moved into the area and established bases.  Local officials claim that the PKK guerrillas have resided in the government offices and their presence delays the process of rehabilitating Sinjar areas. www.mesop.de
