MESOP FLASH : More Kurdish youths trained to fight with ISIS in Syria
04.05.2014 – Hoshmand Sadiq – BasNews, Erbil – The Islamic State of Iraq and Sham (ISIS) has informed a family from Sulaimaniyah of their son’s death in Syria. Harem Omar Ali is the latest Kurd to die in Syria fighting alongside extremist group ISIS.
Following the disappearance of 12 young Kurdish men from Erbil on March 17th some of the men called their families in Kurdistan to inform them that they were in Syria. The brother of one of the 12 Kurdish youths told BasNews: “they have been gone for 45 days and they have often called us from Syria.” He also noted that while his brother spoke of military training in Syria the phone number he was calling from was an Iraqi one.
