MESOP FLASH : Gülen movement sends a letter to PKK in Qandil / GUELEN LIKES TO VISIT QANDIL PKK

02.04.2014 –  Shwan Barzinji – BasNews, Erbil – A source has told BasNews that in March members of Gülen Movement sent a letter to the Kurdistan Workers’ Party (PKK) officials in Qandil Mountains. According to the source the letter asked to improve relations between the PKK and Gülen and for the Kurdish organization to create obstacles for the Turkish Government. Gülen also suggested their readiness to visit Qandil and support the Kurdish peace process in Turkey.

Muhammed Fethullah Gülen is a Turkish preacher, former imam, writer, and Islamic opinion leader. He has over 2,000 schools and universities in almost 160 countries and has a large number of supporters in Turkey. It is the second time that Gülen Movement sends a letter to PKK, the last time was ten years ago, but has yet to receive an answer from the PKK. PKK Foreign Affairs Representative Demhat Agid spoke to BasNews and denied this letter was ever received but did say that Gülen movement is now closer to the Republican People’s Party (CHP), which stands against Erdoğan. According to Agid, Gülen Movement is against the Kurdish peace process in Turkey. “The main cause of the problems between Gülen and Erdoğan is the Kurdish question and peace process in Turkey. Erdoğan said he would solve the Kurdish question alone while Gülen was against this idea, resulting in this problem,” said Agid.

He believes that Gülen Movement is doing all it can to create obstacles and put pressure on the Turkish Government. “After elections we will back those who support democracy and freedom and the solving of the Kurdish question in the country, no matter whether it is Gülen, Justice and Development Party (AKP) or any other political party,” said Agid.
