MESOP FISHING : “WORLD WAR III & KURDS IN THE MIDST OF IT” (Quotation by Chairman APO)

02.05.2014 – Mewan Dolamari – BasNews, Turkey  – The statement of jailed PKK leader, Abdullah Ocalan was read out in Diyarbakir, Turkey on International Labor Day.

On May 1st, International Labor Day was celebrated by many Kurdish people in Diyarbakir, the Kurdish majority city in Turkey, and at the celebration a letter from Kurdistan Worker’s Party (PKK) jailed leader Ocalan was read out for the people.

In his statement, Ocalan stresses the need for a socialist system now more than ever and states: “We can’t compare the need for a socialist system now with any other time in history. As much as there is a difference between the theory and action of socialism nowadays, it can be said that it has made that much risk that can emerge from a capitalism crisis.”

He goes on: “The weakest ring of authority system in this century in the sphere can be seen in the geography of the Middle East. Now, what is going on in the area looks like World War III and Kurdistan is in the center of this war. Independency has spread all around the area and all people, nations and cultures have put their attempts in to action to stand against the authoritarian system.”

He also notes that the laborers and the unemployed lead this situation with their ideological and practical weapons. In the end of his statement, Ocalan puts this to the PKK officials: “It is necessary to take a lesson from ancient history as well as paying attention to the people living in villages and rural areas and taking the responsibility of leading the whole community rather than focusing on only one place or group of people.”
