Zarif to Abadi: Tehran & Baghdad relations have strengthened

24 August 2014 13:10 – Shafaq News / Iran’s Foreign Minister, Mohammad Javad Zarif expressed during a meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister-designate , Haider al-Abadi his hope in the development of relations between Tehran and Baghdad during the period of the new Iraqi government.

“Iran’s relations with the neighboring country of Iraq have a strategic importance ,”The news agency “IRNA” quoted Zarif in news , briefed by “Shafaq News”.”Tehran and Baghdad relations have enhanced during the presidency of Nuri al-Maliki and we hope that these relationships would develop through the new Iraqi government.”Zarif will meet after his meeting with Iraqi Prime Minister al-Abadi , the former Prime Minister , Nuri al-Maliki. The Iranian Foreign Minister has arrived this morning to Baghdad in response to an invitation from his Iraqi counterpart , Hoshyar Zebari in a two-day visit for talks with Iraqi officials
