By: Ahmed Ali and Nichole Dicharry – Key Takeaway: On December 20 and 21, Iraqi Kurdish Peshmerga “in coordination” with Syrian Kurdish YPG forces and Iraqi Yazidi fighters entered the center of Sinjar district in western Ninewa province. These forces are now clashing with the Islamic State of Iraq and al-Sham (ISIS) and have reportedly cleared some areas in the city. Therefore, ISW is updating the status of Sinjar.
