MESOP CALL BY THE PRO-RADICAL-ISLAM MOGHERINI – EU calls on Turkey to restart peace talks with PKK after deadly bombing

NORTH KURDISTAN (TURKEY) – BRUSSELS, 3 April 2016 – The European Union (EU) is urging Turkey to restart the peace process with the Kurds after an attack in the south-eastern Kurdish city of Diyarbakir  in Turkish Kurdistan killed at least seven police officers. “Turkey should re-engage in [the] Kurdish peace process, which brought so many positive and promising results in the recent past,” a statement from EU foreign affairs representative Federica Mogherini said Saturday.

The EU is ready to support a peace process, the statement said.

Five Turkish soldiers and one special forces police officer were killed last Saturday in a bomb attack blamed on Kurdish militants in the southeast of the country, the Dogan news agency reported. The new attack comes two days after seven police were killed and 27 others wounded by a massive car bomb attack on a police bus in Diyarbakir. “A genuine political dialogue in the framework of the Kurdish settlement process is the only way to achieve a peaceful and sustainable solution,” Mogherini‘s statement said. www.mesop.de
