MESOP BREAKING : PUTIN INVITES PYD/PKK TO MOSCOW

Russia Invites PYD to Moscow –  The Syrian Kurdish representatives are scheduled to meet with the Russian Foreign Minister

26 Jan 2017 – MESOP  – LODZ — Russia has invited representatives from the Syrian Kurdish Democratic Union Party (PYD) and its military wing, the People’s Protection Units (YPG) to attend a series of meetings in Moscow. PYD Co-chair Asia Abdullah and and the party’s envoy to France, Khalid Isa are invited to meet with Russia’s Foreign Minister Sergey Lavrov on Friday, Sputnik reported.

The meeting comes amid talks between the Syrian government and opposition forces in Astana in hopes of finding a solution to the civil war in Syria. However, Syrian Kurds have not been invited to Astana talks, but Russia is attempting to have their views before further proceeding with the negotiations. Isa told Sputnik that Russia’s influence in Syria is inevitable and Moscow is trying to take Kurds’ opinion into consideration due to the fact that Kurds are a main component in Syria.

PYD leadership has previously expressed disappointment in the Astana talks which is brokered by Turkey, Iran and Russia, saying that the attempt will fail as excluding the Kurds from the meeting is limiting the talk’s scope. www.mesop.de
