26 August 2014 – Shafaq News / The President of Kurdistan region, Massoud Barzani confirmed on Tuesday, that the region will continue to fight the Islamic State of Iraq and Syria “ISIS” organization, hoping to have the “honor” to end the terrorists of ISIS by Peshmarga forces.Barzani said during a joint press conference in Erbil with Iranian Foreign Minister , Mohammad Javad Zarif, attended by “Shafaq News”, that the Islamic Republic of Iran was the first country that helped the region according to their means and supplied it with weapons and ammunition”.
He added that the arrival of such assistance and international support, contributed to raise the morale of Peshmarga dramatically, adding that Peshmarga troops has a will before the arrival of these weapons in not allowing ISIS to carry out its plans.Barzani stressed to continue to fight ISIS, hoping to have the honor to inflict major defeats to ISIS and end them by Peshmarga in the mountains and on the Kurdistan territory.
On the news reported by some media for control of ISIS on Mosul Dam and capturing 200 members of Peshmarag, Barzani stressed that these reports are baseless, stressing that Mosul Dam is currently under the protection of Peshmarga forces.For his part, Iranian Foreign Minister , Mohammad Javad Zarif said that ISIS danger is not only on one people in Syria or Iraq, but it is a danger to the whole world. He explained that ISIS is dangerous on all partied, especially Kurdistan and Sunni and Shiite parties, even parties that cooperated with it, pointing that Iran is with the Iraqi people in this battle.
Zarif expressed happiness that the Iraqi politicians stress the need to speed up the formation of the next Iraqi government, pointing out that Iran will support this government. He said Iran is with any government formed in Iraq and be in the service of the people, stressing the government’s support to Haider Abadi seriously.He stressed that any agreement between the governments of Baghdad and Erbil will be supported by Iran in all formats. On a visit to Sulaymaniyah and meeting former President, Jalal Talabani Zarif replied “Yes , Jalal Talabani is one of my old friends and will visit him in Sulaymaniyah.” Zarif had arrived before noon on Tuesday to Erbil and was received at the international airport by the head of the regional government, Nechirvan Barzani.
