MESOP : BASHAR THE SAVIOR ! – Iraq Seeking Syria’s Support to Defeat IS
14/07/2016 – 12:54 | BasNews – DAMASCUS — Iraq has asked the Syrian government for greater military support to defeat the Islamic State (IS), Syrian Arab News Agency (SANA) reported. Falih Fayaz, a national security advisor to the Iraqi government, visited Damascus on July 13th, and met with the Syrian President Bashar al-Asad to discuss the war against IS on the both sides of the border. SANA reported that Fayaz was delegated by PM Haider al-Abadi to seek Syrian military and political assistance to Baghdad. The long-promised operation to liberate Mosul from IS was on agenda. Asad praised the victories on IS militants both in Syria and Iraq, saying that defeating the extremist group in any of the countries will benefit the others as well. www.mesop.de
