The festive season is coming. It is a time we connect with those we love, but it can also be a time where we can feel alone. While many of us will spend X-mas and the New Year with our families and loved ones, 60 journalists http://ifj.us6.list-manage2.com/track/click?u=312d2086b1b5654e5e6957dd9&id=963bec3277&e=a33e5c4bc2 in Turkey will spend it alone in the prison.
They were denied the opportunity to spend the New Year with their families and loved ones because they were put behind bars for telling the truth. In fact, their professional rights as journalists were violated. They cannot report freely without the fear of imprisonment; they were punished for telling the truth and serving the public interest.
But we remain positive that with your support to our campaign ‘‘Turkey: Set Journalists Free http://ifj.us6.list-manage.com/track/click?u=312d2086b1b5654e5e6957dd9&id=df14009244&e=a33e5c4bc2 ’’, 2014 will be a better year for journalists and press freedom in Turkey.
To give these journalists a hopeful year to look forward to, we are making an appeal for your support to our online petition.
Please help us reach 10.000 signatures before 2014 by signing the petition now.
