SOUTH KURDISTAN (IRAQ – PUK hands Sulaymaniyah Governorate over to Goran
25 Aug 2016 – Following a vote in Sulaymaniyah Provincial Assembly, in line with the previous agreement between Goran Movement and PUK, Süleymaniye Governor Dr. Aso Feridun resigned and Dr. Heval Ebubekir from Goran Movement was elected in his place. SULAYMANIYAH – ANF – 25 Aug 2016 – In line with the previous agreement between PUK (Patriotic Union of Kurdistan) and Goran Movement, the reassignment planned between both parties in Sulaymaniyah province was realized today. Following the meeting at 10:00 today in the Provincial Assembly, the positions of Sulaymaniyah Governor and Provincial Assembly President were exchanged between Goran Movement and PUK.
In the session which was held in Sulaymaniyah Provincial Assembly and attended by 31 PUK and Goran Movement members, Dr. Aso Feridun’s resignation was accepted with a majority of votes and Heval Ebubekir from the Goran Movement list was elected in his place. Dr. Heval Ebubekir’s former position of Sulaymaniyah Provincial Assembly President was filled by Azad Heme Emin from the PUK list and Enver Tahir was elected as the deputy. In the session held between Goran Movement and PUK in the Sulaymaniyah Provincial Assembly, Avan Cemal, Mihemed Resul and Sebah Fatuş from the PUK list protested the changes in duties and authority and left the session. www.mesop.de
