Erbil to Hold International Conference Addressing Yazidi & Christian Massacres / The conference will lobby for international recognition of the atrocities

Basnews | Nuwar Faqie – ERBIL – A conference will be held on 8th and 9th of February in Erbil to discuss the Islamic State massacres of Kurdish Yazidis and Christians and the survivors’ displacement from their homes in the Nineveh Province of Iraq.

General Director of Yazidi Affairs in the Kurdistan Ministry of Endowments and Religious Affairs Khairy Bozani told BasNews that the conference will be held in Erbil with the aim of gaining recognition of the crimes. “The purpose of the conference is to demonstrate the extent of the crimes committed against Yazidi and Christian people. Evidences and documents will be presented to the attendees,” said Bozani. He said that they will lobby the Iraqi parliament and the ministry of councils in Baghdad to condemn the atrocities and explore what action can be taken. “Politicians and Iraqi and Kurdish MPs will attend the conference to force the international community and United Nations to pay attention to the crimes of IS,” added Bozani.
