Kurdish parties to form a joint commission to negotiate election results
18.05.2014 – Hemin Salih – BasNews, Erbil – On Saturday the Kurdistan Region’s parties agreed to form a joint committee to negotiate the winners of the parliamentary elections of Iraq and the upcoming formation of the new Iraqi Government.
BasNews has been informed that every Kurdish party will be part of this committee and have agreed that only the committee has the right to officially negotiate with the winners of the parliamentary elections. When the results are announced the committee will begin negotiations with the winners and set out pre-conditions for the parties that have a role in the Kurdistan Regional Government-Baghdad disputes, such as the implementation of Article 140, Kurdistan’s independent oil export and the federal budget.
The Secretary of Kurdistan Toilers’ Party Ballen Abdullah told BasNews that the committee will begin negotiations when all individual parties have come to a conclusion. Parliamentary election results are scheduled to be announced by the Independent High Electoral Commission (IHEC) on Monday.
